Now I'm going to deviate from the instructions which call for the yardarms to be attached now. Since I'm doing cloth sails they need to be stitched to the yard before attachement. I think I may do the standing rigging I can before this step.
If you're curious about the stern, I'm not completely happy with the paint job on the transom/windows.
Airfix provide these lovely jigs, as you see I have 3 (from the Victory, Wasa and an old one). The instructions give you the guide which notches to use, and ta-da. I then use wood glue, liberally spread over where the vertical overlaps the horizontal
All you do is then snip the strings and end up something like with this (a tester from earlier)
