Here is a picture of my terrain "sand", the only real sand is the Play Sand by Quikrete, the rest are from TAP (The Army Painter) Battlefield effects line.
I have several tons (really, it is for our garden plot) buried under snow now. I’ll retrieve a can full and screen it to get the different sizes.
That will work too. Where I'm at, up here in NW Georgia, I have two choices, red clay or granite.
The TAP Battlefield effects are made from cork, and talc. and not very expensive when used to cover small bases for minis.
First coat of Battlefield Coarse sand applied.
Now I have to get a small spray bottle again, and spray highly thinned white glue to apply the next layer of Fine sand.

Professional!! That model has so many parts. You painted it up just the right amount. I'd like to see a "Night" pic, to see that lights. Very well done. Excellent detailing.

Working on the base, so an update is in the works, maybe later today, then @zathros 's lighted up pick after the glue dries.
Yea, it's almost as much fun as watching paint dry...I remember watching glue dry…
1st coat of Fine sand, I didn't get the whole base covered with glue, so...

And here is a quick night time lighted pic set for @zathros all the lights look bluer in the pics than they do in person, because I used RGB LEDs to make my white, and blue light.

I may have to put the project on hold soon, as we have been given 60 days to find a new residence. We have been on a "Month to month" lease since Oct of 2022 when the ownership and management of the house we rent changed. We have a lead on a new place, but nothing firm yet. So it may get messy.
