    Johnny 5

Not a bad idea. :) I'll probably be modding it with 360* rotation in the joints, but for the regular modeler that's a great solution to poseability.

I know I am. :) Will the arms and such be jointed at all?

USS Defiant (DS9) 1:400 scale (finally...)

Two things the designer could do to send a clearer message on the model are: a) put X's on the circles that have to be cut out. b) draw an ASCII drawing (if he can't actually draw on the page) like this \/^\/ to indicate the shape of the parts.

USS Defiant (DS9) 1:400 scale (finally...)

The "Escape pods" are actually the impulse deflection crystals (or whatever that thingy is that glows blue on the back of the Refit's saucer), and they are supposed to be inset in the hull on the Defiant. ;)

    Johnny 5

Oh my gosh, PLEASE do two versions! :D Also, would it be too much trouble to put in the parts to make the coverings that were lost in the first film? The ones that were on the head mostly that made him look like his military brethren. And having Numbers 1-5 would be awesome, too. :)

I remember waaaaaaaaaay back when I had started on a Johnny Five. I can't wait to build this one! :D

Any Z-scale modelers in the US with extra figures?

Hey, I'm looking for 1:450 figures for a ship model I'm building, and photoetch just won't cut it. I've seen some really nice Z-scale figures that would be perfect, but they're all overseas and I don't want to pay $25 for a few tiny figures I'll only use once, in all likelihood. Can someone in...

Star Wars RPG model: Nesst-class Light Freighter

So I've started a Star Wars roleplaying game campaign, and my characters have chosen a beat up old SoroSuub Nesst class light freighter as their primary mode of transportation. It's a hunk of junk, but it's theirs, darnit! :D So to make the game a bit more exciting, I've decided to try and make...

Hey, Y-wings are supposed to be slow anyway.

    Full-size Stormtrooper Armor

Eh, no. When school started it threw my schedule all out of whack and so I wasn't able to exercise much the last couple of weeks. I've plateaued at the moment. But as long as I don't gain it back, I think I'll be fine for the time being. I'm borrowing my parents' scale so I can...

    Full-size Stormtrooper Armor

Well, I actually stopped the diet I was on, but when I did diet this summer I used the Military Diet. Nothing too bad. You just had to follow the listed meal plan to the letter for three days, then after that you eat whatever you want. I lost a lot on that, but began to plateau in the last few...

    Full-size Stormtrooper Armor

I weighed yesterday, and guess what: 4 pounds lost this week! However, that's one pound short of being able to add a new piece of armor to the construction queue. That's okay though, because I'm still working to build the other pieces I already earned. I had almost no time to...

    Building my own Y wing(s)

You are putting in an AMAZING amount of detail into these two birds, dnalor!! I doubt I would have the stomach to try one, let alone two of these.

    building my own snowspeeder

A better question is, where would one put all these huge models? I don't think any of them are under 45 centimeters long.

    Full-size Stormtrooper Armor

Thanks a bunch, you guys! :D I really appreciate well-wishes. Hopefully I can add about one piece a week or so. Naturally this means the thread will go pretty slow, but hopefully it will not get too lost. ;) I've rebuilt those two forearm pieces, and in order to maintain symmetry I'll be...

    Full-size Stormtrooper Armor

Hey guys, I'm still working on other projects of course, but I have another, non-paper-related project that I've been working on this summer as well: weight loss. I'm trying to slim way the frak down, and so far I've lost about ~25 lbs or so. Thing is, I have a long way to go and I need...

Hmm. What sort of problems did you encounter?

    building my own snowspeeder

Expertise doesn't really enter into it with weathering powder. It's pretty much idiot-proof. Just slap it on and brush it, and it will stick to the paper. If you don't like it, just use a wet wipe or a wet paper towel to gently remove it and start over again. Neither of those are mine...

    building my own snowspeeder

Well, you can still get great results with things like weathering powder and dry pastels. You basically brush them on with a paintbrush just like you would regular paint, and they stain very similarly to real soot and grime. Check this build out: See the subtle streaking on the wings? All...
