Thanks for the support guys, wish I'd posted this project here 3 years ago instead of putting it on Sketchfab where it mostly managed a collective meh! :)

After rendering animation frames all Saturday I got my PC to crunch out a draft version of the video on Sunday night (ended up with 10 shots from different angles). It's alright I suppose but I'm never really happy with anything. Here's a quick screen-grab.

So I'm going to try to separate the shots into layers and composite them to give me more adjustment of the contrast/colour. Any improvements will possibly be slight but I have a tweaker's mentality and am always looking for more control. If I get a move on I could have this done by the weekend (maybe a bit optimistic but you never know).

It's good work. I'd love to build something like that if I ever have the time or resources.

I was planning on getting the video up this afternon. My laptop has spent the morning crunching through the composits. Got half way through and realised the most important layer was made at half resolution so I've had to start again. Doh! :) Hopefuly get this done today though.

O, I know that from my first ever rendering of a flight over a water surface in Terragen. The machine was groaning two whole days to produce 56 seconds of film. ;)

I'm currently sorting through thousands of miscellaneous old files in my dropbox folder to make some space (which is how I remembered my walking Allosaurus skeleton). Might as well show some more old (non dinosaur) stuff. This one's from 2014, rendered with the old Blender internal renderer.

Rendeering is Rhino is a bit different, but has the same elements. I Rhino, you are working with 3D models, and your Render can be a virtual set you construct. The placing lights in different locations, you can do some Raytracing. These programs do the same thing in different ways. It's good to have all this on one forum so people can learn. Great thread! )

Unbelievable! The only thing I have EVER managed to render in Blender was a crude image of the Draconian Marauder in front of a blue starry sky background (in 2007!). To this day I have no idea how I did that - and I was unable to produce ANY renderings in Blender ever since:

WOW! Those are AMAZING! You are a very gifted and talented person!!!
No way, those pictures are taken in sea world :animated:
Thanks guys you're very kind. Looking back I have a few criticisms, the caustics (refracted light pattern from the water surface) is too focused and defined and should've been a little softer, sea floor is bit grainy also. The fish species is mullet if anyone is wondering .

Looks fine to me, that's quite an aggressive looking craft! Blender's capabilities and user-friendliness have improved a lot since 2007, you might be pleasantly surprised if you try it now.
I did this in Rhino3d years ago. I've done much better since, but the pics are buried somewhere in this forum! The model is a fully 3D model and is unfoollded. I just haven't gotten around to building it..:)
Be cool to see it built. There's something exciting about having all those 1s and 0s transformed into a real object, for me anyway. I've heard a lot of good things about Rhino. Personally I'm a polygon/Sub-D modeller and Blender is my tool of choice but if I needed NURBs/CSG I'd be looking closely at something like this.

This one is even older, must've made this about 2009/2010. Modelled in Lightwave and rendered in Cinema 4D (we had copies where I was working at the time). I wanted to have a go with the hair system which had been recently added to C4d. Also I love Leopards.

My work computer (an Apple Mac G4) didn't have much RAM by today's standards and struggled with the fur particles. To get it to work at all I had to render the elements separately and composite them in Photoshop. The texture that drives the fur color was painted manually. I remember doing it in my free time and it took me absolutely ages to paint with a mouse! :)
