This looks like "Orchis" part of "Dendrobium" system from Kidou Senshi Gundam 0083 Stardust memory. You might call it "support vehicle", i suppose. But you might as well call RX-78GP03S Gundam "Dendrobium Stamen" as a mere control unit for "Orchis" ;)

Very beautiful build indeed. Your work made me to rethink my wishlist and move this particular model closer to it's top ;) I also agree with Your point of view regarding sanding and painting hull. I don't see a point in making a cardmodel and then hiding it beneath cover of paint.

Barry, i did soldiering only for main "spars" of mast tops. I used thick (approx. 1mm at this scale that is) copper wire and it shows in picture as the thickest parts. All the thinner parts are made from stretched sprue, using some CA and lots of swearing. Railings are made from stretched sprue...
