Hmmm... haven't seen that one before. Outside of this did anyone see it in the series and if so what episode in the old BSG? It would make for a pretty cool model.

It was never used in the series. This vehicle specifically designed for studio tours at Universal Studios (1979-1992).

@Martin Saenger was so kind to upload the models to his site http://www.paperaviation.de/ in the same section as the Thunder Fighters. Here is the link: http://www.paperaviation.de/Thunderfighter/thunderfighter.html.
Thank you very much for hosting these models for us! :)

RF,

Thanks for sharing the links on your great work.:):animated:

Too bad our resource section is still toast:fireguy:.:headbange::frak:

Maybe there's a way to allow people to look at the website like they used to :yesyes:, but make it for members only on the resources section per our original rules (login like we are now).

OK folks, time for a revival! :)

I'm still renovating my flat and don't have much time to spare on new projects yet (unfortunately) but I have come to a point at which I need something to protect my Rover models before putting them in storage. They are in a plastic bag right now which is not very safe. So I have swung into action and have started to make some storage boxes for them. Like the Landram boxes these are supposed to look like commercial products. The design will be inspired by the old vintage MEGO packaging artwork.

Stay tuned for updates! :)

The Resource Center works the same way it always did. The only difference is that to get into it you have to go to the "Home" page and look under the header, "RESOURCES & GALLERY"/ "Zealot Resources":

Ok Z - although the post above was done a while ago when we had all of those problems. I've since been to the resource links since then and found a few new / old treasures.

Still it never hurts to let everyone know what's currently going on.

OK, there is good news and bad news.

Good news: The 1:32 Rover fits in the 1:32 Landram box.

Bad news: It is a very snug fit. If you use the box "as is" you won't have any problems. However, if you decide to reinforce the walls by laminating them to card the Rover won't fit any more.

Solution: I'll make the box longer by 5 mm. ;)

The assembly starts - the single parts of the box are glued together:

A clear sheet is brought into shape:

and attached to the back of the window:

The box is glued together:

An inlay is prepared:

Thank you! :)

That is a snug fit.
Yes, I agree, but it is large enough for the model to fit in The box does not bulge. ;)

Reason for that is, I did not want to deviate too much from the Landram box, so I took it as a base and changed only the length of it. I'm thinking of revising the Landram box and turning it from a front opening box into a top opening box like this one.

In addition, I need a compact box for protection when I put the model into storage. So I didn't put too much air in it. ;)

If you want a bigger box you are free to scale it up. That shouldn't be too difficult. If you need any single parts or a custom layout don't hesitate to contact me. ;)

The backdrop was created from an image from flickr. I'll be keeping this to myself in order to avoid any rights issues. For this reason the backdrop that will come with the kit will look a bit different.

And so she is ready to go:
The stoppers prevent the model from bouncing around. You may choose if it is heading toward the left or the right:

Now on to the other two! :)

These box displays are fantastic. Anyone gifting one of these to someone would really top off the speicial nature of a handcrafted kit, a hand crafted box. What a deal. They also have the added value of making an excellent way to store the model, while displaying it, and keeping the dust off. Excellent job! :)
