For those interested, my patching technique involves having a duplicate page printed on the thinnest paper you can get, then you cut out the shape/area you need to patch and glue. I have to admitt, it's needed more with the black paper inner ;)

And now, the upper hull complete, and greebled!

Ok, the bridge will be added after the lighting....

I chose to connect the neck now, since it's such a visually important joint and previously I've struggled to get this joint neat. The idea is then to "drop" the entire top section onto the completed hull,, adding the edge pieces afterwards.

Now the inner support (which I completed earlier :))

I'm going to have to do some "surgery" to accommodate the lights, ringed in red.

A quick tally of LEDs, 22 required for the saucer, add to the 28 already in the hull. Nice round 50!

That is why I like smaller scaled ships, that way I can use just a couple LEDs as light sources, and Fiber optics to get the light where it shines.
