Sloop "Via Così" (Fabrizio Prudenziati)

Thank you. Somewhen during the process, a few days ago, I thought I cannot do it, I have to give up and it will not look that good in the end.
Now almost finished, all parts came together quite good despite some minor misalignments.

A pity I have decided to give it away. Now I want one for me too:lolsign:

This model is not easy as it needs certain parts reinforced, and unless you have built many ship models, you won't know where to do this. Your reinforcement of the deck with corrugated cardboard was spot on. That helps the boat keep it's shape. I think you are doing a great job on this model. You are past the hard part, keep on keeping on! :)

Thanks. It is indeed my first ship model of that size. The mini sloop did not need any reinforcement.
With that big sloop I more or less trusted intuition where to reinforce. And got a little help from that russian build tread (just the pictures, did not bother to translate). Can not find it in this moment, as I am without my laptop this moment. I will search for the link later or another day

Yesterday I did the rigging and that kind of guard rail out of wire rope I think. Did that with a thick thread.
I glued multiple layers for the posts and put the thread into them from above, then closed the posts with a pincer. For the posts and bases of the rigging a also used fast glue. With that they endure more tension I think.

I am not able to assemble the motor because I just have pictures of it with really bad resolution. I will finish the boat without the motor. It is okay, I think and I want to give away the sloop as a present today

And that's it. I cancled the idea of the detachable mast because I had to glue the rigging thread to mast and deck.

Here is Fabrizios Sloop "Via Così", I think the most complex model I made so far. It was fun, little exhaustive inbetween, and really satisfying the moment it all came together.

Fantastic work! If you paint the seamlines at the bottom with some red colour your model will look even better. ;) Other than that this is a great build! :)

Thanks.
It really hurts to let it go but at the same time I'm happy to give this away as a present to people who are important to me.

Paint that thread with Crazy Glue and it will not sage or stretch. It will look great for years. ;)

What is crazy glue? I thought about applying my fast glue on the thread. Because I used that to fix the thread in place to the small posts and rigging bases. There the thread hardened with the glue. But i'm not sure if that would have worked with the whole length and if it would keep the straight shape

Cyanoacrylate Super glue Glue, probably called "fast glue", not sure what country you are from. Anything that will harden and seal the thread will work. The next boat I make, I am going to use some old Violin strings I have laying around. I would also paint the rails of the boat with the glue, because they warp in time from moisture. Anything that is one layer of cardboard will get soft from moisture if not sealed. I sometimes use Balsa wood for these parts, or bent to shape "paper clips". :)

Ah yes, I think mine is also cyanoacrylate. I think it's always that in fast glues/ super glues, right?

But I have to be careful with the paper. Where the glue was applied to the paper, it got soaked really fast and left darker marks. So I'm going to apply it to the threads and search for a spray varnish for the whole boat. Luckily the people I gave the sloop as a present are still traveling with me
