Millenium Falcon (version of the movie "Solo") building thread

An easy way to do that is to print it out on thin paper, and just vut and glue the panels over onto the model. The panel lines form themselves. :)
I started that on my build. But to give the plates the proper 3d effect it has to be at least 160g paper (190g in my case). 120g was to thin.
It really is patience work and the result you can hardly see at first glance. But it feels nice if you pick up the model.
Perhaps with some varnsih on it, the edges will pop out more because of light reflection. Up until now I only did the upper saucer part. Wanna do almost all plates on the hull.

It is tedious because you have to cut away many sides of the plates to make them fit onto the hull with all the other parts already in place (like radar, turrets, other hull parts), but still fun and really relaxing

That Looks really good.

Here is a suggestion. Add the panels (plates) before assembling the components. This will (also) allow you to add additional details and greebling without worrying about disturbing or ruining neighboring parts and components.

That's right. As a lesson for next models which could benefit from that kind of detail. Here it is too late
But it is also good to be able to do it later, and to acquire some skill in it that way. For example I had to be really careful woth that panel underneath the radar dish. It worked but required some thinking and really careful handling

Your Millennium Falcon is excellent! :)
