Not sure you know enough about printers. You use a printer, such as Epson printers, that use Pigment ink. You then pain the models with a gloss coat. This is a primarily paper and mixed media site. Plastic models, as such, are not the main focus of this forum. If you fabricate you own plastic model, from scratch, different story. Straight up plastic builds, we're more interested in paper, multi-media builds. We have models on this forum that are impossible to build out of plastic, look more realistic, and aren't even available in plastic.

Remember, Pigment Ink, not Dye Ink, which runs, then you can paint it whatever color you want and it will shine as good or better than paper. Also, paper is a broad term, and I advise everyone to never use gloss paper.

You should give it a try again. We have modelers here who makes tires out of paper that look better than plastic model synthetic tires.

Two questions. First, how do I manage the "alerts" I get so I'm not seeing the same ones every time. Second, I started a thread for my LaFerrari but the jpg uploads didn't display as a thumbnail.

The "Inspect Element" shows they are linked to Facebook, and not uploaded directly. You could just drag and drop the pic, the "Upload a File" feature gives you the options for thumbnails.

Geze, I really took from you post that you didn't like building paper models. Sorry, I do have Brain farts upon occasion. I have a big 1/18 NASCAR paper model with a full interior, Roll Bar Cages and all. P.M. me if you're interested. Seeing the work you do, if anyone could make this thing "the Bomb", it would be you.

I've gone through all your posts. I guess the Thumbnail to full size isn't working, so I made them full size.. Not sure what's going on as it works in other threads. Forum glitch I guess? I just changed, under "More Options" from "Thumbnail " to "Full Image".

That Hawkeye has been on my To Do list forever. When my son was a very very young boy, like five years old. He could not be without it, not for 5 minutes, That and a Motor home Matchbox toy that I have never seen since. He is 17 and still has both. Awesome paper car collections. Some of the modelers have been using a wet paper molding technique, but your printer must use Pigment Ink, as it does not run when wet. Dan B. King's Discovery is the best application of this technique, though when used in greebling models, the effect is a part that fits in so well, you don't realize it's a solid paper dome.

(p.s. I built one of the Bugatti 35's, the fit of the parts is amazing. Probably the best I have seen. So good I am tempted of making one out of aluminum flashing. I gave it to a one time friend, now I regret doing that, as he evolved into a jerk{Yeah, it's you, if your reading this!}) )

Thank you for fixing the pictures yesterday. When I uploaded them I saw the two buttons "Thumbnail" and "Full Image" but I couldn't select one. I thought that the file size was too big.

As for the printer types. I am an unpaid caregiver so I need to get by with the cheapest printer I can get. Right now I just bought a Canon Pixma MG2522. Anything more expensive than that would be difficult. As far as I'm concerned, it prints really well on plain card stock.

I got into the paper modeling to challenge myself. But, I like things with a lot of details that need to be made also. My favorite Sci-Fi is Battlestar Galactica. I've built the 18" Galactica twice and am on the verge of a third. Yesterday I started the original Cylon Raider (someone needs to design another one with better details and better assembly instructions). Only got to step three or four before it went into the trash as I made a mistake that couldn't be fix.

Later today I'm planning to start the Ninjatoes classic Viper Mk. II and if that goes okay, then the Viper Mk. II (Jolly Rogers), Cylon Raider (new). I've also been trying to find landing gear for the Vipers. I might have the nerve to alter/add some detailing to it. I'm going to try lowering the wing flaps and might try to and depth to the antenna array areas. We'll see what happens.

I have the Galactica, both new and old waiting to be printed but I'm having a serious debate where the plastic and paper versions are both about the same length, I'm not sure which I want to build. Thinking about it, a side-by-side with the plastic and paper versions would be interesting. Hmmm..

I understand fully. Your printer uses Pigment for Black Ink and Dye for color, just so you know.

I'm attempting to start a thread in the Sci-Fi category showing my step-by-step on the Viper Mk. II but again, every time I try to drag the pics, it comes up with the "lined paper" thumbnail. I can't figure it out.

Hello and welcome to Zealot. I am sorry for the late "welcome".
You will find many people here who are into BSG (Myself included). SO I hope that you feel at home here.
I looked at your Viper build thread and fixed your images as well as stated how I fixed it. That should work.

I think uploading a file works bet because where you click on the post is where the picture will be placed, allowing for an interesting post construction.
