Yeah - I think of that a lot :) I'm still living where I used to walk to a friends house from my house - almost 3 miles away:eek::eek::eek:

I drive it and I still can not believe I used to walk it :) And it seemed like it took an hour :) but I know it was probably 2... now it takes minutes of course.....

But yeah - we used to walk everywhere - then we got cars..... and that was it!!!!

It's 80 and clear. The high should be around 90 an d there's a good chance of thunderstorms later.

I'm still tied up burning DVD's. I have one more season to go. That's fourteen duplicates. Wonder if I can get them all done today.

Good morning folks

It was a bright and pleasant 66 F as I headed in this morning. Our high today will be 83 F.

Last night my son got his football pads and tonight they start hitting. This is usually when they have a lot of kids quit. My son has been actually wanting to get his pads all week. It should be interesting. One thing that has been interesting is his team joined another league. This league is stricter than their old league. There have been some coaching changes already since a couple of coaches would not follow some of the new rules. We are hoping that the new rules stop some of the roster moving that a couple of coaches used to do where certain boys were moved from team to team. One great new rule is the no smoking at games or practices. While I am not a radical anti-smoker, I just do not think it is appropriate around kids and especially at youth sporting events.

No modeling last night.

We have to do the grocery shopping this weekend. We have the 50th birthday party that I thought was last week on Saturday.

I am hoping to run some trains over the weekend. I would also like to figure out what project or projects I am going to start next.

Morning. It's a beautiful day here in Chicago - cool and sunny - not very August-like. Just realized yesterday I have Japanese beetles eating everything green in the backyard - including some big 'ol trees. I think it's too late to zap 'em with insecticides. Rats.
 
Good Morning, Beetles eh, Doug you spend too much time socializing with your bride. Married men are suppose to take care OF the yard and play with trains that is our role in life. We have a nice sunny morning, still no rain although spots of rain were all over the radar yesterday. Run some trains today, and its friday to enjoy..S.J.
 
I am currently in the middle of one of my worst yearly nightmares: my sister's slumber B-day party:eek:. It's an anual thing for her (read: torture for me) to invite all of her most energy-loaded friends to celebrate her B-day in the form of jumping all over the house and constantly bugging the :curse::curse::curse::curse: out of me, and sometimes worse! My CNW caboose was partialy damaged by one of my sister's friends last time, and I only just nearly saved my passenger station from another one a few hours ago because it was mistaken as a "mini-dollhouse" in a "cheap toy train set"! (The station cost me a good $20 and has had around six weeks of manhours poured into it, and my RS-32 ALONE could buy a cheap train set!):eek:. In their defense,they and my sister always say that they 'frogot', even though I always remind them, something they say I do to much of!:curse: They may be a few years younger than me, but they could at least respect me and my hobby!
 
It goes to show that what you consider valuable others consider it a toy. I have that problem with my problem. He's never made the leap in the thought process that separates toys (Tyco-70's-80's Bachmann-standard line Life-Like) from semi-scale models (Athearn-modern DCC OnBoard Bachmann, etc) and scale model (Proto 2000, Kato, Spectrum, Stewart, Atlas). He went to pick up one my P2K's with a dirty hand once and almost drew back a nub.
 
Jeffrey and CNW, I ran into that big time with my lego collection before I switched to the O gauge trains. I had all those Harry Potter lego sets including the trainset (operating) and every kid that walked into our house had to take something apart and screw with it. :( They're all in tubs right now - maybe one day I'll get back into that hobby. I got most of the kits used and then had to hunt down the missing pieces online.

Have you ever built a real train using lego(standard and snot blocks(studs not on top)) the studs can be on the side and even the bottom of brick they sell them online in bulk as well as standard bricks:cool: There is a big Lego train club here in Ohio. Way back when I was a boy scout I remember adds in the scout magazine for I think Fischer Teknic they made a plastic building block system of trains and robot/automated stuff. A little ahead of thier time. I sold off 2 generations worth of legos some dating back to when they were a mailorder item only and also promoted by doctors as a method of improving hand eye coordanation. :thumb:

I just got done today having Color world paint my house garage and shed. They did a good job and made very little mess:mrgreen:

Will rethink track jig and try again.:cry: Also will need to invest in a dremal tool and a razzor saw.

Morning all. Did shingle repairs at Mom's yesterday. They had a storm with lots of wind. All fixed now. Came home and went to wedding. Now to go to Miss Edna's today. Think I will go to Hardees up the street and get a breakfast biscuit. Have a good one.

Hardees biscuits :yep:good stuff always eat there in Kentucky and Tennasee on our yearly trip to Johnson City when both my sisters where going to Bible College at Johnson and later at Milligan sp?.
 
This is what four seasons of Star Trek Enterprise looks like after it's been remastered from PAL format to NTSC format. There's forty-two DVD's there. That was lots of work. Now it'll work on my equipment.

Hi, everyone.

Not a bad day here. I got a lot more organised - both in real life and with my computer files. As I build my model RR, I need to know exactly where to put my hand on which kit, design, or rtr. It's getting that way.

Jeffrey: I burn DVDs as well. I'm about to convert some railfanning tapes to DVD. May I make a suggestion? Put the DVDs in paper sleeves, 50 to a plastic or cardboard box. That saves a huge amount of space. Now take those 50 jewel cases, add a tube or two of glue and some paint, and convert them into scratch-built office blocks. :mrgreen:

Seriously, clear polystyrene costs a bucketful of folding stuff, but jewel cases get sold on flea-markets for pennies.

Here's a thought for all you artists: this is caboose thread #VI, so...
I want to park up some redundant cabeese - 6 so far - each painted with the 'Zealot / Gauge' house colors & logo. They need not be all the same prototype.

The question / competition: what is the 'Zealot / Gauge' color scheme and logo? Should I just leave this query here, or post in a thread of its own?

CSXect, You miss the point of DCS and TMCC. With the handhelds you can walk around with your trains and get some exercise while you run them. :thumb:
