Battlestar Galactica Power Sled MK-II (& MED-SLED) in 1:18 scale

As we all know, @Revell-Fan created a great template for the Battlestar Galactica Power Sled (Chariot) back in 2012. My good friend, @ASC Mclaren designed his own version (with a few interesting modifications). Since @Revell-Fan is revising the original Power Sled; I conviced @Revell-Fan to create the template for the one that @ASC Mclaren designed. @Revell-Fan agreed to tackle this one (with a few extra added modifications, enhancements and components).

For the most part, this one goes together as the original one (so, be certain to follow the instructions for the original Power Sled for the majority of the build instructions). As you can see, the main lightbar is slightly different.


Here are the parts parts for the main lightbar.


The main lightbar is assembled.


Here is the lightbar and the lower outer body part.


The main lightbar is attached to the lower outer body part.




The upper outer body part is attached to the lower outer body part (internal formers were "sandwiched" between the tow body parts).

The side panels are assembled.


The side panels and 'kickplate" is attached.

The base plate for the drive control console is attached in place.


The main box for the drive controls is attached in place.


The support mount for the drive control sticks are attached in place.

Here is the center console. There are plenty of greebles to add and make this a very "realistic" looking model.

I first started with closing the dashboard. Here is the part for the main console.


The main console is assembled.




The main console is attached in place.


I added all of the greebling (i.e., lights, knobs, and switches). Yes, it is tedious work. However, it is well worth the effort.

There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that EVERY knob, button and switch has a function. Even if it is to flash and look cool.

At this scale greeling is a must. I have a suggestion for the tracks, instead of paper, try and find some sheets of thin rubber and go for it. They will look like the Thiokol tracks, and ZIP DRY will glue to rubber.

I started with the track form. Here are the parts for the internal formers for the track form.

Wrapping the belts for the track. The belt parts are made of two halves. *NOTE* When wrapping the belt layers, make certain that you follow the instructions closely. Otherwise, you will mess up the alignment.

Due to some technical difficulty (and the need for general improvement of the components), there were a few components that needed to be completely redesigned (i.e. tracks, main console and control "drive" sticks). Whilst @Revell-Fan is finishing up the tracks, I have jumped to the main console, control "drive" sticks, and seats.

Starting with the seats. The assembly is very straight forward.


The seats are assembled.




Here are the parts for the control "drive" sticks. You will need a toothpick as al "axle" to hold the sticks in place.


The control "drive" sticks are assembled. The levers will move back and forth.


Here are the internal formers for the main console.


I attached the throttle to the side of the console. Yes, the main control panel has been updated.


The main console is assembled. The template contains all of the lights and switched to greeble the console.
All of the greebles were attached.






Both the control sticks and console is in place.


The seats are attached in place.
