Where did you get a picture of my car from when I was in college?!?

    Can't beat that price

I don't think there would be an issue, really, for running 3 of them as one. I have seen pictures of 3 running together... like here. And even if you did run into a mechanical issue, just disconnect the worm drive from the motor and you have an unpowered unit.

    A Time to Spend

Very nice addition to your registry. I, myself, bought a BLI MT 4-8-2 the day after Xmas. Then was informed that I should buy my 2-6-6-2 before January was over, as that would be the last loco related purchase (including rollingstock, buildings, scenery materials, couplers, ANYTHING RR related)...

    Can't beat that price

I recently was going thru an ad and found an RDC for $14.99. Up until last year, I think they were up around 50 to 80 bucks. And a Proto1000 at that. I ordered it and low and behold, it cost almost as much to ship it from NJ to Idaho as the unit cost! Anyways, I knew it wouldnt be DCC...

    Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2

I bought the IHC Consolidation for 35 bucks at a swap meet. The guy selling said he chipped it, but was selling without the digitrax 9 pin chip. I swing by another table, find the right chip for 15 bucks, and take my stuff home. Put the chip in the train, put it on the track and watched it go...

    Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2

Thanks for all the input folks. My other 2 Spectrums are a SD-45 and a Dash 8-40. I have only owned 2 steamers. One was my first, a Tyco 0-8-0 that never ran properly, but I hope to restore one day... and the other is an IHC 2-8-0 Consolidation that I picked up at a swap meet. It died a...

    Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2

Hi there My lovely wife has decided that I should order the Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-6-2 as a "Happy New Years, But We're Building A House So No More Engines This Year" present from Micro Mark. I would love to add this bad boy to my roster, but I can't find how well they run. I have 2...

    Worth Saving?

You know, it seems to me that I was reading about someone here stripping down a Tyco, repainting, super detailing, and swaping motors... and it looked SO good... I can't find it now... (what happened to the galleries?!?) I have mine from 1977, and I am thinking of trying to refit it. I mean...

    Garage Layout

Painted the rails today... or I should say, my friend from the club, Ted, came over and HE painted the rails. Used an air brush and wow... what a difference. The shiny-ness if gone from the ties, and the rails just look so dang good. Will post pics soon... I spent a good portion of the night...

    Garage Layout

Latest Installment.... I have been running trains for about a week and a half now, a couple of hours a night testing my track, and so far, no issues. (Other than cleaning... sheesh... I think the Black Gunk Elves come along and paint my rails for me...) I know these next pictures are rough...

    Rampaging railfans...

Hey, I ordered those last week! Although I model Autumn '54, I think some kids might be lurking the bushes ready to moon the Mainstreeter... And Doc, I hope that Charlie & Marty didn't rough you...er... the Rapant Fan up too much....

What type of road bed do you use?

I have blue foam down, then cork road bed on top of that. I had the foam road bed before, but when the ballast is added, the noise is really carried by the foam, whereas the cork seems to absorb it more...

This might be ridiculous, but hang with me...

Thanks for the tips and comments. And thanks, Tom, for the offer. I just got back from the jeweler. The steel just wouldn't hold the gold, but he did give me 3 14k pieces of gold "wire" that are the same diameter as the nail. He put on a bead for the heads and it came out looking nice...

This might be ridiculous, but hang with me...

Hey everyone So after 6 1/2 months of working on my railroad, I now have a working layout again! After tearing down my old layout, I thought I would have this new one up in 3 months. Didn't foresee a death in the family and other crazy things happening this summer, but it is up and running...

    Garage Layout

Here we see where a river is going to be crossed. I plan to flow it inbetween the tracks... make it like a river canyon back home. Further out, you can see where I am thinking of putting my restaurant. I still have to paint it all, but you can see what I am aiming at... Also, I have...

    Garage Layout

Ok, it's been 4 months since my last update... I guess it's time to show more pics. I haven't been able to get as much done as I had wished, but I think that's a universal issue... Pardon the mess... I either have time to clean my area or clear a spot and build for a bit. You can guess...

    A tour of my layout

That was just a hot diggity-dog E Ticket ride! (Old Disneyland reference...)!! Seems like Folsom Prison Blues or some other song (Riding on the City of New Orleans?) ought to be playing in the background. As for the leaning power pole, there are quite a few of those on the UP line heading...
