this is my first post and theme here, though i watching this forum for a long time
i am starting new project - Sd.Kfz. 9 Famo from Angraf. this model is very complex and with large number of mistakes and mismatching, but i will try to bypass it all and complete the model.
so, 34 pages of B4, 7250 parts, a couple of years for build process
i will build it as is, only painting edges
first of all the frame, and the first bug - the sides of the frame are too long for about 1 cm..
the rest is fitting well.
also added some little parts

yes, you're right, but it worth a try

You have my respect, building this model with its known defects will be a challenge. I always wondered why AnGraf never attempted to correct the errors. This could be a super model.

Please keep us posted on the problems you find I did not keep track of all of the problems that were discussed on the other forums.

work continues slowly. slowly because of the amount of little parts to assemble, but i don't complain, i like it
the feelings are mixed, from one hand i enjoy the process, from the other there are those little mistakes that you don't know why they pop up
from one hand all the parts spread continuously on the sheets, from the other, suddenly you finding yourself searching for little something all over the 34 pages of B4, and finding it 15 pages far from the place it should be with other parts

until now i assembled front bumper, driving shaft bridge and braking system (my guess)
bugs:
part 4d to little in diameter to fit in base of part 4c
part 5p to long for part 5o

I just got a copy of this one, not knowing the history of the kit. I will be watching your build with interest. When you say the frame is 1 cm too long, where does this error come in? One side, both sides, front or rear?

It would be great if you could explain any work arounds for the problems you find.:thumb:

no problem Greg
the frame is too long from both sides. its not front and not rear. you can put it from front and it will be too long from rear and the other hand. i noticed that the mismatching started already from first hole for the chaises from the end. but the width was OK. only the length was wrong.
the solution is simple: i ignored the frame and glued the part itself on the carton
the other two problems where very small. the long detail was just cut out and the little one i just made bigger, because it was inside white part.
i hope i explained myself clear

Having the parts spread all over the place drives me nuts. You would think that the designer would keep them together. What I do is cut the parts out and sort them by groups such as parts 1 to 10, 11 to 20 and store them in large envelops (20 cm x 30 cm) this way I don’t have to stop and search out a part. However with 7000+ parts in this model you would have a lot of envelops.

thanks for the advice, but as you said, to many envelops.. you could open a post office with that
the good part - the most of the details spread in order.

all cross bridges assembled. took some time because of the unusual form of the details.
i found parts 7m, 8d only on page 15, far from the other parts of the cross bridges (for those who own or trying to build the model)

this is the inside white part, so you can make your own only bigger. but the shape was not circle. so i just inserted it inside to the depth it goes. it gave the shape to the outside detail. the detail itself i glued to place by edges and not by inside part.
i hope explaind it clear

support rings for the chaises and some strange looking parts called amortizations, by instruction.

bugs: detail 9e is missing by 60 pieces (bolt heads)

the axes where made from wooden sticks to strengthen the chaises

front suspension assembled.
i used a lot of wires, but in the end i got fully workable steering system
i will also include part of a scheme for the unit with a lot of bugs
there was a misunderstanding where to glue the legs of triangle strut, but the pictures of prototype helped a lot (included)

bugs:
part 13j must be reinforced with 0.5 mm cardboard, it's not mentioned in the instructions
part 15i too small - painted glue place
part 13b - the gluing place for part 13a is to big - painted glue place
part 14i - the basis for the part 13a is too small - cut out to fit the detail
part 13p is too long and no indications where to glue it to part 13a - cut and glued according to the prototype picture
