Hi all. My name is Ralph and I'm a train-a-holic. My wife complains that the only magazines in the "reading room" are Model Railroader and Trains...and she wants to know what I did with her copy of Bon Appetite! :)

My name is Terry and I am a train-a-holic.
I had my first train ride when I was 15 days old.
I have had model trains in one form or another for 33 years.
When I built my house, I designed the train room first and added a house on top as an afterthought.
I bought a Model Train store.
My wife seems to understand, as she has a cool train related nickname for me (Loco!)
I agree with Johnathan, There is no cure!

:D :D :) :)

My name is Ronald and I am a train-a-holic.

Symptoms:
- Stop in the middle of a conversation when you hear a train whistle somewhere
- Reading only train related stuff, forget about these everyday news in the papers (it's not amusing anyhow!) :(
- Making a detour on the way to work, because this road is parallel to a RR line and you hope to see a train
- Comparing the silhouette of an SP GS-4 with a beatiful woman (the GS-4 wins hands down)
- First thing you open when firing up your computer is The Gauge :)

Cure:
Who wants to be cured from that, anyway? :D

Ok, I admit it...

..., I too am a train-a-holic. In fact I'm getting a little freaky right now. There's a pair of GP-30s due out in January and I'm feeling a bit wired- getting juiced on the anticipation. 'fact is- I ain't got the cash to feed my habit, but they're comin'. My best friend tells me, "Build a railroad"!

I got a start ya see. Really I do. But uh, hey brother- can ya spare a U-30C, maybe just a freight car or something- you know, to tide me over.

My name is Mark.

Note to RailRon-
There's a small yard out back where I work- everyday I hear them blow and I know I am missing some great action. I am swigging every moment when I railfan at work! I believe you're wrong on the silhouette however.

What can I say.......

TOOT TOOT..... CHOOF CHOOF CHOOF..... TOOT TOOT....

People look at me funny when I walk down the street doing that. I have no idea why.

I have been diagnosed as having tootaphrenic's syndrome though. Just can't help it.

TOOT TOOT.... CHOOF CHOOF CHOOF.... TOOT TOOT....

Damn... there I go again. :p

My therapist told me, as a remedial exercise, to put my elbows by my side, with arms forward, and move each arm forwards and backwards alternately as I walk.

I don't think that's helping with my illlness somehow. :D

Bad Day

Hi , my name is Mike and I'm a train-a-holic.
Today was a bad day , I got two packages in the mail. I tried to just leave them there but after a short time ( I even took out the trash) I opened them and released my inner tension. Inside were my repaired MRC Control Master 20 and a new MRC 1500 to operate my turntable.
I am so ashamed.
I am sorry for my weekness , I need all of your support today.
Thanks , Mike

My name is Mikey... I'm a train-a-holic.. I have operated Model Railroads for the past 22 years (Ever since I got good paying jobs so I could afford this hobby). I help found a model rr club of just friends, had patches & passes & numourous liscense plates madeup. We are registered with the Private Road Name Modelers division of the NMRA. I have built or helped build:

A Z gauge in A briefcase (Yes, I HAVE taken it to work at least Twice)

An N Gauge 8' long shelf layout at work, in my office

An HO going around my dining room ceiling

A G gauge in my basement.

A G gauge, Demonstration layout at a Local RR Museum - 110' long, with about 200' of trackage and an N gauge demo layout that I help maintain.

And every year, I have an antique Standard Gauge going around my X-mas Tree. I need no help, ...... but my wife needs your prayers :D :D :D See sig below LOL

Mikey

After reading Mikey's post I thought maybe I was doing OK.
But then one Fatal Mistake and off the wagon I went again!!!
The words spoken to my wife were " Honey , how much do you think it would cost to paint the motorhome in ATSF Warbonet ?"
Now here I am again a mear shell of a man.
My name is Mike and I am a train-a-holic.

Well that explains it, i knew i had something catchy :D
Symptoms
1-Own more trains than tools(and i am a pro contractor)
2-Bought a house a stones throw from the BNSF mainline(cant sleep without a train rumbling by on occassion)
3-since i cant see real steam engines anymore i spend inordinate amounts of time staring at the smoke coming from my chimney
4-My inbox has more emails from modelers than viagra ads
5- so much to learn so little time. The library is considering adding a train wing in my name;)
6-a Caboose would make a much needed addition to my Garden Shed.
7-1235 model train related magazines surround a spare bedroom.only 13,467 more to go :D

If i could live life over again,i'd do it as an engineer :)
If the world were perfect,N scale figures would get alot more work done
If i had a Million i'd retire to my train room
If i had 10 million i'd retire to my train room in hawaii :D

Hello, my name is John. I'm not a train-a-holic. Nope. Not even in the slightest. I'm not a collector, I use these trains. :D (and rolling stock, and trains and cars and trains, and, oh! don't forget about the steamers, and, uh.... :eek:ops: )

This thread reminds me of a different group where the members weren't collectors, they were users. Referred to the group several times as "The Support Group from hell." They also talked about "the slippery slope," and would regularly help folks in danger of sliding down wax their skis. ;) ;)

Of course, they say denial is a classic symptom....hmm.....

I started out as a social train user.

Once a week, tops. At a friends house. It seemed innocent enough.

I started contributing to the layout. I bought a shay. It was only a 2 truck. I knew it was escalating when I got the 3 truck, but I couldn't resist. Then they started sending me home with literature. And they gave me my first kit to build.

Now I'm visiting the layout more often. I have train paraphenelia all over my apartment. I had a conversation about models trains with a total stranger the other day. And I find myself daydreaming about my very own layout...

Oh, if this is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

My name is Mrs. Mac and I'm a train-a-holic!!! YEAH!!!!!!!

1) I have more engines than room on the layout to store or run them.
2) This weekends project is to start the sheles to hold the trains that I'm not running or have stored in the roundhouse.
3) I have the disposable part of my paycheck spent within hours of it depositing into my account.
4) I look for boxes upon returning home and hate it when a signature is required and I have to wait until the next day to get it.
5) I spent more $$ on HO items this past weekend at a train show than DH did on his O gauge.
6) DH and I try to beat each other yelling "Trainie-Wainie" when we hear a train going through town. I've even been known to email his a work when one goes by the building. I hope someday I don't stand up at my deck and yell out "Trainie-Wainie" for the entire building to hear. :eek:ops:

I do hope there is some kind of 12 step program for this addiction. Well, no not really!

I LOVE TRAINS!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D
