...heres a question for all the Espee and Rio Grande freaks, don't treat me too badly if this is not a plausible idea, but would it be too difficult to convert one of the new 45T-2's into a 40T-2? I've seen it done in reverse, 40 to 45, so it makes sense to me that you could do such a conversion, you will now have proper screens to work with as a major added benefit...what's your take on such an idea?

The quick answer is, no. The rear radiator section and some cabs are correct, but the prime mover doors are too big and the section just aft would have to be removed. Everything forward of the radiator would have to be moved aft. You could use the new drive and put an old shell on it. This process would be A LOT quicker and look A LOT better.
