yeah, i can only count on having $600 something dollars, and i think i'd rather invest in sound decoders then saving another $100 and buying one container crane.

I will bet it will go down in porice eventually. that or some unknowing person will sell it on ebay and not know what its worth.

anyone know where I can get the moving truck from the video

These are made by Faller. moving vehicles have been available for sometime in europe ( it hasn't caught on here).

unfortuneately, they don't really seem to work all that well. they do have the tendancy to "dart" around rather then appear like someone's driving them.

its not really a slot car so much as it is magnets in the truck holding it onto a magnetic rail (or guide wire) in special road sections you buy. The cars and trucks have tiny motor or batteries in them i think. I

Ah yes, it's the new container crane from Heljan. It's a bit blinkin' pricey for me. Still, at least for the projected container terminal on my layout, a Kalmar Contchamp from Kibri won't drain my bank balance - or take up as much space for that matter!

That Contchamp is exactly what I am looking for. A quick Google search turns up vendors in Germany, but non in the US. Any ideas where I could get one?

Here's another option, though not currently available: a container-capable forklift.
