UHU02's Viper MK-II (REBUILD)

It is time for the landing gear.

Here are the components for the landing gear.

As you can see, I opened the elliptical slots on the sides. I raised the hinge pins and the part on top.

The main tube is attached.
20180906_092033.jpg 20180906_092045.jpg

I raised other detailed parts to give it a bit more of a realistic feel.

The front landing gear strut is finished.

All three are now finished (with the same details).

The landing gear is attached.

Here are the ammo racks that go in the wing struts. Since this is an "overhaul", I got rid of the "bullets" by taking the under panel, cutting the holes out, and using it fo the top of the panel, so there are no "bullets" visible.

The ammo racks are attached.

I permanently attached the landing gear as well.

As some of you have guessed, I have plans to build a large diorama of a maintenance hangar bay. However, in the interim, I have decided to rebuild my original diorama (ANOTHER FRAKKING OVERHAUL). There will be a few changes though.

Here is the platform. I have added the squadron patches and raised the lettering.

I mentioned in my last post that there are going to be a few changes to this diorama.
Here is one of them. These are aircraft jack-stands designed by @sakrison.

Very nice. Love the jacks!! ;)

Now on to other interesting components for this mini diorama.
Here is the Mule Tractor (designed by @silveroxide which is available in the Resource Section). Now, I did make a few changes and added a few things.

Starting with the tyres. I followed @silveroxide's recommendation of wrapping strips of paper around a dawl until you get the right thickness. I also raised hub so that the "black areas" look recessed.
20180914_204113.jpg 20180915_072847.jpg 20180915_104518.jpg

Here is the chassis.
20180915_132750.jpg 20180915_132759.jpg

Here is the body

I raised the circles and the rectangles in the center, and recessed the larger rectangle.
20180915_150301.jpg

The panel is attached.
20180915_150505.jpg

I raised the center light panel with the red lights and attached the "caution" panel.
20180915_154546.jpg 20180915_154559.jpg

I enhanced both the front and back bumper.
20180915_160354.jpg 20180915_211517.jpg

Now for the rest of the details.

I added side panels to the seat.
20180915_214456.jpg 20180915_214508.jpg

I attached the main and side control panels, seat, and steering wheel.
20180915_214645.jpg 20180916_092531.jpg

I decided the add axles to the wheels for a more "realistic" look.
20180916_100735.jpg 20180916_102530.jpg

I covered the axles to help with holding everything in place.
20180916_103153.jpg

The little Mule is now finished and added to the diorama.

Here are few more components: A handheld tool box, equipment cabinet, and flight ladder (designed by @silveroxide.)

For the tool box, I raised the drawer fronts and made an actual handle.
20180917_214923.jpg 20180917_214932.jpg 20180917_214941.jpg

With equipment cabinet, I recessed the handles, defined the wheels to make them look more like wheels, and raised the framework.
20180918_162547.jpg 20180918_162628.jpg

I am really not that happy with the flight ladder. I think that the side rails are too wide.
20180920_183106.jpg 20180920_183113.jpg 20180920_183120.jpg

The components are added to the diorama.

I wouldn't worry about the ladder, as when it is placed in the diorama, it really looks good, the sum of the whole being greater than the parts. :)

Here is some "furniture" for the diorama.

Here is a simple work bench. I raised the matt on the table. I also re-enforced the supports for the legs.
20180921_112521.jpg 20180921_112529.jpg 20180921_112539.jpg 20180921_112550.jpg

Here is a stool and chair. I added the BSG logo to both the stool and the back fo the chair.
Since the Viper is on jacks, I decided to make a stool and have the maintenance crew on the stool, instead of lying on a creeper crawler.
20180921_134121.jpg 20180921_134126.jpg 20180921_134137.jpg

I re-enforced the back post of the chair and the back "cushion" to give it a more "realistic" look.
20180921_134148.jpg 20180921_134156.jpg

The furniture has been added to the diorama.

That's not an overhaul that's a restoration! Looks like they found that at the bottom of a river decades after a war. Nicely done.
