Tie Phantom Design Thread

Hello All,

And this is my next project.
Designing of the Tie Phantom.
It's gone be a large model 20 cm long, 10 cm heigh and 14 cm width.

My firts inkscape steps.

I gone modifie this model with parts from other Tie's for example the rear section with the ion engine.

So stay tuned.

And here are some drawing's in progress.
Below the cockpit. As I said I will use some elements from the Tie fighter / interceptor.

Ion engine also with some elements fro the fighter/interceptor

And the last one is the wing. It's a big wing.

I think I got almost enough pieces to make a Alpha version.
So stay tuned.

I found a verry nice model from a graphic game designer. I contacted him and he send me some pictures. I love this model because he has used some parts ion engine from the Tie fighter.

I took the top view and rebuilt the cockpit cone in SketchUp:



I know that you have already produced a pattern but maybe this helps to check the shape. Print at 300dpi.

BTW, please don't be confused because of the "40mm". I chose a random even number so that is easier to calculate the rescaling factor. Resize the pattern to make it fit.

Today I worked on the solar panels and their surroundings.
First I will make a alpha build with only the basic parts.
May be a few parts with some detail on it for the looks.

Lets print and build the first rough outline of the Tie Phantom.
This is the main body some parts are familiar. And this is the wing with the hyper drive engine

Only thing todo is cut and glue. Then I can start fabrcating new parts and see how they fit on the model.
