Sudsy gets sick, Nurgle MKIV gets built!

Okay, I am in good health. Just a 40K joke, as the Chaos god Nurgle is the deity of rot, decay, and diseases. I am building this as a gift. A friend of mine, and fellow 40K lore fan, got married and I didn't find a good gift for the wedding. So I am making one. He chose a dreadnought, and his faction of choice is Nurgle/Death Guard.

I won't be painting this beast, as he wants to do so! So this be a build and prime model for me!

Starting out as I normally do, with the Patoroch templates of about three dreadnought models. A generic MKIV base, and greebles and weapons from a couple other faction specific models.


My secret weapon! Matte clear coat on the printed card.

Into construction! Got the base of the upper body together before a pause for dinner and errands. Also dug up some reference photos from the usual places, DakkaDakka, Pintrest, and Google images.

Going a bit further with the greebles here. Using some Magic Sculpt 2 part epoxy to make some organic bits and hose, along with the crafting googley eyes.

I never thought about making a Death Guard as a present for a wedding. May become handy afterwards.

announcing he became Grandpa by referencing the Blessings of Nurgle (spitup and full diapers...) a couple years back...

Well, it all fir back together! The epoxy didn't make the head too big to fit back in place!

On to the hips and exhaust. Going to reinforce the hip with a wood dowel since this is going to be a table ready model that might get dropped a few times!



Also, for reference (in the US), an 11/32" drill bit is the perfect mandrel to wrap those exhaust tubes around for maintaining shape while gluing!

The perfect thing for Halloween: Eyes with legs which run across the room, jump at you and cling to your real eyes!

Glue is drying on the hips and legs!

Final assembly of the hips, legs, and feet. I used dried coffee grounds from my coffee pot, and unused kitty litter for turf and rocks.


Epoxy, glue dots, and googly eyes for corrupt mutations.

Finally, the arms. Reinforced shoulder joints, and the works.
