Ranger-3

In testing the nosecone, I found that I had to take off the glue tabs that were on the nosecone (that slid into the body), because they would not slide in properly.




So I attached a glue strip to the edge of the body and slid the nosecone into place.


Do to some manipulation, the end result does not look all too clean.wall1wall1wall1




Now onto mounting that engines and landing gear.

It is a fairly easy build (for the most part). so it does go by quite fast.

Thank goodness you have found the error before release.

Aside from that, the ship is coming together very nicely. Despite the fact that this is a Sci-Fi movie prop developed in the late 70s it really looks like the next generation of the Space Shuttle.

I'm looking forward to seeing the final steps! :thumb:

Looks really great, Thunderchild did a great job designing Ranger 3. Wonder if we could talk him into designing the Hatchet fighter, Buck needs an advacery to shoot at. Besides they were the ones that first shot at Buck's shuttle.

I too would LOVE to see someone design (and build) a Hatchet Fighter.
On that note, on with the progress of this model.

That looks awesome, pal! If it wasn't a movie prop from the late 70s and if NASA hadn't cancelled the shuttle program you could actually assume that Ranger 3 was the next generation of Space Shuttle; lighter than the original one, more powerful and more functional, superbly able to transfer people and material from and to the ISS. Great job, and the group shots reveal the scale perfectly.

Is the ranger 3 into scale to the other ships?.
it looks so small...or am i comparing it with a space shuttle?

Ranger 3 was a one-manned space probe, it is smaller than the Space Shuttle (I pointed that out in my previous post). So it should match the TF's scale (1:32).

The models are great, and to me, the scale matches pretty well to the others. It really took me back in time through my memories; I really enjoyed the show.
