Thank you. I have been wondering about this model for awhile now. I almost forgot about this thread.
Great to hear! I hope he will correct the shape to make it look less like a Space Shuttle and more like the real Ranger 3. 
Updated news!
I did hear back from @ThunderChild. He has a few personal things to take care of first, but he is going to finish Ranger-3 (as well as a few other projects that he has in the queue) soon.
So it is confirmed. This project is not dead.
