After today's work session, the river bed is closer to completion. Not done, by any means, just closer to completion. Some ballasting was done...mostly on the out-of-sight areas.

The river channel looks like it is filled with mud at this time. The river water color will probably not be much different.

Unfortunately, the fault line near the tunnel will not be easy to disguise.

Ground foam, sifted gravel, and some plant parts (yarrow for sagebrush) have been added to some of the lift off portions of the layout.

I would like to see a layout like that at our DQ! I would have to eat more blizzards!

nice job i'll have to stop and check it out next time through. my inlaws live in legrande and we pass through about twice a year. it is some of the most beautiful country along the columiba river.

More scenery work was done today. Here is a shot of a train coming up the Poison Creek grade toward the tunnel.

Envirotex was poured along the length of Poison Creek as can be seen in the previous pictures. Work was also started on some trees for the mountains. Here is a reverse angle from the previous picture that shows two of the first trees.

Today I have been planting 100 year old trees, but it is hard to stay ahead of the loggers.
