My name is Jim. Having recently retired, I'm finally finding time to pursue some long-lost hobbies. My primary interest is in model railroads, but more from a diorama side than operations. That leaves the big question of what one does with a layout after it's finished if one isn't interested in operations. Of course, everyone knows there is no such thing as a completed railroad layout.

Hello Jim welcome aboard do you have some pictures of diorama's you can show to us?

Not yet. I'm shifting gears and cleaning my office/workspace from my old marine service company. My first project will be a pretty simple diorama based on a scene from a video from a channel I follow. Just a small workshed in a field by a path in Sweden. It should be a good project to get my feet wet again.

Hello and welcome to Zealot. There are many members here who are into model railroading, who can help you with anything and answer any questions that you may have.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, need help or advice, please feel free to ask ans we will do what we can to help you (or at least point you in the right direction).

Once again welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing your work!

Welcome to Zealot!

There are a lot of forums and websites that offer houses, buildings, and other buildings you can scale and use for your diorama. They are made of paper, but the potential to accessorize (we call it "greebling") these models to make them look more than flat boxes with graphics is up to your desire.

This is one is one site, there are more, search under Google Images for paper house templates.:

Welcome aboard, like you I'm interested in the modelling side of building a layout rather than the actual subject matter.

Never had any time or space for a setup, but I am helping a friend build his dream layout... look forward to seeing your progress when you do indeed get your feet wet.
