Firefly-Class Mid-Bulk Transport

This is Jim Bowen’s Serenity, heavily modded.

I’ve always liked this simple, little model that Jim designed and have built it several times.

The first version I built was stolen from a display in the local Hobby Lobby store.

Each time I take it a bit further; here’s the latest version. Enjoy, -J

Beta building further mods

Adding side cargo, underwing supports (2nd attempt),
engine outboard plating and ventral strakes.
Conical engine, repainted.
Repainted wing.
Redesigned intake nozzle and engine actuator arm.
Mounted the intake nozzle upside down, doh!
Rough build, no edge treatment or coloring.

Most are keepers. Others, meh. -J

your mods are looking awesome. But did you keep the small scale for that or did you upscale? because I print the original template on A4 and the resulting ship is tiny. awesome but quite hard to expand things or not?

Your Granddaughter will cherish this model for years. I don't know how young she is, but if you have watched an episode with here, it really makes the ship come alive. That's what sucked me into the series, the continuity of the model from interior to exterior. It was believable.

I up-sized a little by printing on a 9.5 x 13 paper size (half pg of my lg 13 x 19 stock).
Here's a pg example (warped for copyright reasons) of my version of JB's Serenity, with additional mod notes.

BTW, here's Micro's Serenity simplified to 7 pgs and reduced to about a 15" over-all length.
2nd pg from left is printed twice (wings & engines).

looks really nice. yes, I saw that template without textures. because of missing textures I kind of skipped itXD

but it looks really beautiful!
