Got pretty far with this, need to make a tongue and smile blendshape. Mesh seems to be deforming OK with bones, just going to add controllers for eyes. Might get texturing started.

Made lots of progress with this but haven't had time to properly W.I.P it. This is the sculpt, it's mostly just fur stamps made with scanned pencil drawings.

Refined the control rig and got some texturing worked out. Painted with Blender tex paint / layered version assembled with Krita. Cartoony eye highlights have been a bit tricky to implement the way I want but I think I know where I'm going with it.

That is outstanding. Graphics turned into stamps? I know that from The Gimp. How does that work in Blender? Do you streak along the hull and the mesh is pulled with it or do you click on one area and the texture is literally pressed on the mesh?

Thanks for the nice comments guys

For the 'fur' I used Blender's 'anchored' stroke method for the control it gives as dragging out from the center of the click position scales and rotates the stamp. The sculpted details have now been baked into a normal map so I can apply the details as bump on the low poly version.

This is just about finished now, I'm going to make a few renders then put it up on Blendermarket. It's a bit niche but you never know, someone might buy it. I've started bodging up a couple of objects for a simple scene.

I'll buy it, but not on Blendermarket. Put it up on Gumroad, or Artstation.

Thanks, I'm not built to manage multiple online outlets but I should really put more things on Artstation, The papercraft Dimorphodon can be got there (free of course). Gumroad I haven't gotten into.

Some quick poses for renders

Set up a quick scene without putting too much thought into it. The Eevee render doesn't look too bad 'in camera' but I'm going to separate out a few layers so I do some adjustment in Krita

The red gradient in the material node setup is Rudi's nose glow, it's not going to actually glow but I want a nice saturated red :)

COOL!!! I like your Artstation. I especially like your Paw Patrol mural! What kind of paint do you use for murals?

Your work is so aesome!! I can only do CAD to make things. I have no artistic ability. The way you fuse both together, well, much respect. ;)

I think in order to be a machinist you need to have some artistic ability. You can also design and build things which takes a degree of artistic ability! I think everyone has artistic ability, it's just a matter of finding out what you are good at

I'll try to get the files organised to submit Rudi to a couple of 3D asset sites this weekend.
Been prepping gallery images and writing 'blurb', this is some of what I'm going with though the text will probably change

Just going to call this one 'Happy Rudolph'

Just to show the raw Blender output produces an essentially finished render, here's a Eevee viewport screengrab.
However I always prefer some post production control

SWEET! It will make an excellent model for my collection!
