Yeah, I've been totally remiss in posting new work but in spite of the tedium of adding all these bits and the time consumed it does not seem very much to report...

So we'll take it from where I installed the spikes on the corona.

This actually is a chaos feature but it looked so d@mned good I couldn't resist.

Then I had to adjust the cannon emplacements to fit the new design otherwise all the new detail wouldn't fit.

There's a months worth of revamping to post but here's some tidbits to nosh on whilst I get some pictures together.

To tell the truth I've been busy with local politics and have not had time to work on this project for the past four months.

I'll scrounge around for some update images.

Last week I totally disassembled the model to make ready to work on the upper deck.

I also removed the upper legs to work on the thigh and knee armour regions.

I've also been teaching myself "Pirates of the Caribbean" on the piano.

It's a tough piece to learn and my old hands and fingers aren't up to the god awful repetition in the base clef.

I know what you mean about picking up an instrument again. I picked up my Violin, if I don't start playing a lot, and I meana real lot, I'm going to lose the ability. I can always read the music, but technique just falls away with the years. I have the emotion in my head, but it gets hard to translate it into the Violin.

Joint Armour

I've thought about this a lot over the past few months and nothing I could come up with filled the bill of what I am looking for.

The joint armour must cover the knee and hip joint but still not be bulky and clumsy looking. It must be logical and functional but still be pleasing to the eye.

So to refresh your memory and not have you shuffling through dozens of pages of images I'll present the original leg sections as they are at present.

First of all I've decided to reverse the knee and hip joint so the quadricep actuators are in the front and hamstring actuators are in the rear of the knee.

The quads are the only actuators I really need so the hamstrings will be just for show.

Suddenly the leg actuators begin to make a lot more sense.

I started with a couple of rectangular cards and reinforced them with the egg crate fluorescent lens material

An ideal time to ask what has been perplexing me for years...

I understand the frets on a guitar and a banjo but for the life of me I cannot figure out how you know where you put your fingers on the neck of a violin to get the proper note.

It must be very difficult to learn the spacing to achieve the correct frequency. How many octaves can be achieved on a violin?

Once you learn what the open string notes are, it comes quite naturally. You never look at the frets, it's all sound, and you can adjust as you go along. You get to hit notes like Esharp, which is not FF, and B Sharp, which is not B flat. Violins aren't as hard to play as you might think. If you play guitar, buy yourself a nice Violin, get a beginners book, and just start playing, never look at the frets, you will find that it actually messes you up. You'll be shocked how you will know where the notes are. It just takes practice. Not a lot a day either, maybe 20 minutes on one exercise, and when you get that right, you move on. Learning the bow is a bit interesting, but that becomes 2nd nature too. As far as how many notes, it's really not the right question because the same notes appear in many places but have a different timbre. Look at the pic below. EADG being the open strings E the highest of the 4.

I'll stick with the trumpet. I was shocked at how fast it came back to me. My oldest started band, he chose trumpet, he was having trouble with it, I borrowed it, and less than 20 min later I was scaling from Low C, all the way up to E above High C.

Seriously, I have seen some of the symbols before but I have no idea what they mean. Some colleagues of mine are learning how to play the ukulele. I tried it - and after 10 minutes of virtual non-training ("fiddling" ) failed miserably. I do play flute and organ though. Don't worry, the ukulele is still fine.

If you can play the piano, then you can play the Violin. The ability to dissassociate your left hand fromt you right is proven. The pages I showed you that the same C on the High Open E string appears on the low G string, same note, but different timbre. With a piano, you can figure out how the piece goes, then play it on the Violin. I always had an electronic keyboard next to me when learning new songs. The bowing becomes logical, and will take very little time to learn. It's natural, as the bow is only so long and you have to have it ready for the next note, so your Brain does that without notation, the notation just tells you the best place so the song becomes smoother to play and you don't run out of bow. You are depriving yourself of something that would give you great pleasure, as the demeanor you have displayed on this forum, if applied to a Violin, you'd be doing concerts. In reality though, wouldn't it be nice to play along with recordings of Vivaldi Winter, Summer, Autumn, Spring? That would only take a few months at around 20 minutes a day. The you could an electronic pick up and start playing some Jean Luc Ponty!

Since this is supposed to be an ornamented version of a Emperor Titan as opposed to my Lucius pattern Warlord I am proceeding with the decorative armour.

I've been too long in the manufacture of this model and 3D printing technology has consigned me to the dust bin of "also ran."

I was quite proud of my recently manufactured spires until I saw this Emperor Titan.
