Gauge Fantasy League "Notes" Thread :) :)

As of yesterday, it was showing 4 teams with the "x" signifying "clinched playoff spot". It could just be Fox Sports buggy, unreliable server causing it, though. Lastly, I just shuffled a few players around. Bring on the playoffs!

    The narrow gauges of Colorado

Another good Colorado Narrow Gauge book is "Narrow Gauge in the Rockies, by Beebe and Clegg." The original is long out of print, but has been re-released in the last 10 years; along with "The Uintah Railway: The Gilsonite Route." A good bargain hunter can find either of those books for about...

Help needed - Identify this engine

I think David is right. It looks like the drivers are out of quarter. This will cause the axles to bind, and you'll get no movement. You should, however, be able to hear the motor attempting to work. I've never been able to find a good article showing how to quarter axles. Some people...

    The narrow gauges of Colorado

This is officially the greatest thread ever. Narrow gauge, Uintah, Cheese.... All a man needs... In all seriousness, I'll be moving soon. I'll be staying with a friend temporarilly, in a situation that will provide excess free time. If I have the motivation, and manage to keep my...

    The narrow gauges of Colorado

Thanks for taking the time to help a few people understand a bit more. This reply is actually a shameless plug, though. Uintah Railway - "Crookedest Railroad in the World!" It is amazing that the great 2-6-6-2Ts made famous by Sumpter Valley were created to haul grimey, black sludge... on...

    Silly woman struck by train

If I remember correctly, I read that the train was only going 20MPH. At 20 MPH, it's a matter of chance... and not getting run over.

name for a type of "switch"

If both gauges are using a common rail, it would still be considered a switch/turnout. If using different rails, it could be almost anything, as already stated. Bifurcation, divergence, guantlet... If you want pictures, just google "dual gauge switch." I got plenty of results. One of the...

    Silly woman struck by train

to add to my previous post.... Although, we'd all probably be a bit happier if Darwinism had taken affect.

    Silly woman struck by train

One drink at a time. She's lucky she was drunk. Any sober person would have tensed up, and probably would have been killed.

need a small logging plan please

Bigsteel- I really think you should re-evaluate the placement of the boats at the dock. Having anything right up against the edge of the layout makes it look strange, and out of place. For boats, you need water... and lots of it, to create the effect of a real waterway being used for shipping...

Gauge Fantasy League "Notes" Thread :) :)

In one of my other leagues, I had a rough weekend as well. At 6 pm Sunday, I was ahead 276 to 27! By the end of Monday Night Football...... He had come back and beaten me by 1 point. 304 to 305

Weekly Foto Phun Week of Nov. 2 2007

Judging by the background, specifically Parley's Canyon, I'd say this is the Midvale yard. If so, that "B" is probably used as a yard engine or for local switching. Unless it's geared to MU with the rest of the fleet, they wouldn't take it out on any of the real revenue runs. -My guess.

Weekly Photo Phun week of 10/26

I'm still confused. Do you mean Utah Railway? They run Rio Grande and UP T2s (SD40-2Ts) some times, but don't actually own any. As for the D&RGW T2s, I love seeing them on Utah Railway iron. -Especially when they had the 5 loco D&RGW T2 helper unit based in Martin, UT. Uintah Railway shut...

Weekly Photo Phun week of 10/26

Uintah Railway. Winnemucca NV. S-4. Tunnel Motors. That's one strange combination. As a note... If you've ever considered modelling the Uintah in Nn3; Republic Locomotive Works is currently prototyping a kit for the Uintah mallets. The kit will be 'based' (mostly visually) on...

    Amusing Observation

It's great that the loco is being 'saved', but I hate to see steam kept behind bars.

    Picky People

Try to get some information on which manufacturers produce which scales. (I know, you're trying to do that right now.) Once you know who makes what, you will be more aware of what to avoid. As for scale fidelity... take a look at N scale figure comparisons if you get a chance. If you take...

    Desktop image

Here are my last desktop, and my current. I hate icons. I hate clutter. I used to only keep one text file (for quick little notes) and the recycle bin on my desktop. I like deep, dark desktop images that are easy on the eye. Both of these came from the Digital Blasphemy 3D Wallpaper free...

Where were H0 scale models firstly produced?

    Can you imagine their thoughts on N - 1:160, Z - 1:220, and Oh My!! T -1:450?

    Talk about a low-rider

There used to be a crossing like that directly in front of an apartment I lived in as a kid. We always used to run outside when the 5 O'clock freight rolled through. We wanted to see if the 'crazy guy' would make it that day. You see... there was a very rich bank executive living a few miles...
