    On Track, with Deano

UP DDA40X #6936 is the only one of the UP-exclusive Centenials (all 47 of the class were built for the UP's 100th aniversary, hence the "centential" moniker") still running, and UP uses it for private excusions, sometimes with either 3985 or 844 as well. 12 other DDA40X's have been preserved in...

How about a scale vehicle thread

Do these count? Here's a pic of one of my recently aquired 1:24 Corvette Transformer: He's supposed to turn into one, anyways, as most of the car stuff is on his back: I'd have him transformed into his Corvette form if it wasn't for horribly designed hinges... oh well, at least I can provide...

You're quite welcome:mrgreen::thumb: I'm just curious, but just how much space does the Turbine take up on your layout? If the engines really are that huge (bet it was one heck of a time getting it home:twisted::mrgreen:), I can't imagine you being able to crank the throttle past 30 scale...

Unfortunently, I only have two cabeese: my first one (CNW center cab), and the TYCO Chessie, so I don't have much to work with:cry:. If I could get another caboose to mess with I'd gladly leave the Chessie scheme on, but the nearest nomenee is a brand-new toy quality Life Like caboose (the train...

you're welcome! Ok, let's see... The best ALCo Century unit I can find is a C424/425 from Atlas, although you could wait for the C630 and knock those two out at the same time. Bowser The M1000 isn't possible because that engine type never existed, although the next best thing is...

Does "harm" mean overhauling the trucks, couplers, etc. so it can actually RUN on track? THere is so much green crud on the wheelsets that this thing constantly de-rails at the lowest speeds at my switches, and the single horn-hook coupler is just a 'horn' coupler that hardly works at all...

Lift Outs; Help, How Do I Make One?

Well, how about using conductive plates? The whole section could be wired up permentently, but the power comes through the plates. Like a battery in a tv remote in a sense

(cont. from earlier post) This oddly colored hopper was part of the early unit coal trains run by the L&N, although why they chose orange for the first color is unkown to me, but I like it:mrgreen: Although it can ride rails, this thing is WAY past its prime and is in need of maitnence (I...

Great shots everyone!:thumb: I haven't been very active as of late due to other reasons. However, I'm finaly able to get back in the hobby, and here are some pics:mrgreen:: BL2 1845 waits on the grain siding as RS-32 4242 rolls by with two CNW boxcars that have seen better days: 4242's...

Deano had his picture taken in front of one of these monsters and he posted it earlier in the thread. The turbine was at least twice his height and Deano said he's around 6 feet or something!

    Union Pacific Modelers...

sign1I just learned that UP 618 is the only one of all my engines that have found a home in a museum (coencidentaly, my story/excuse for her on my layout is that she came from a museum!sign1)

That right there sir, is one seriously awesome engine. I recomend that you DON'T weather it, although superdetailing would be a welcome addition (like numberplatessign1) Hmmm, let's see, you have at least one example of a Big Boy, Challenger, 844(4), Century, and now you have a fully operational...

sign1You're right, I SHOULD have said two LAYOUTS under construction at the same timesign1, I've already got 5 structure projects (3 built but need improving, two still in 'kit' form"), one car kit mid-way, another car kit totaly unbuilt (and pending the aquisation of a Kadee spring holder for...

    Thinking about a secondary project

Hey all:wave: My first layout, the Riverside Railroad, is still covered in pink insulation foam, so it has a LONG way to go:rolleyes::mrgreen: However, I'm starting to think of how to create ANOTHER layout, this time for the Interstate Railroad (the one with the orange RS-3's), which had an...

Don't make them too shiny, that might resemble too much clenliness:mrgreen:(is that spelled right?sign1) Actually Deano, the SD20's will STILL be, just as leased engines:mrgreen: In their March issue, Model Railroader showed pics of EX-WSOR #2054 in a colum about how SD20's were all unique, and...
