Josh, Wayne, Steve, Jim, CNWman, George, Gus, and Josh(jbaakko):wav: , THANK YOU GUYS!:mrgreen: , for the complements, comments and Kind words:smilie: ,
REALLY, THANK YOU!:thumb::mrgreen:
Wayne, your on the mark:winki: , the M1000 is in my sights:thumb::mrgreen: .
CNWman, a few things for you:smilie: ,
i really like your steamer:thumb: , and want to THANK YOU for posting the links to the real one!:thumb::thumb:
the FIRST pic on the FIRST page of this thread has me in front of one of UP's last Gas turbines they had, the "Big Blows":winki: (i am 5'11'') sadly, NONE of the Veranda Gas Turbines were saved:frowns: , ALL of them were scrapped:eeki: , and the trucks that were on them were put on the GE U50B's:winki: . (...i have a U50B in N scale:thumb: )
i don't have an Alco century:cry: , but i wish i did:mrgreen: , Wayne found a pair for me, but i had to pass on them to get the Veranda:winki: . my LARGE UP engines are:
1- Veranda Gas Turbine:mrgreen:
1- Big Boy
2- Challengers
1- Y3
1- DD35
1- DD40AX
1- F-E-F Class 3 Northern
1- SD90/43MAC
...and though they are not UP:eeki: , 2- SP AC12 Cab Forwards:thumb::mrgreen: .
Steve(viperman), if i COULD get a REAL UP engine, it would be a SD40-2SN:thumb: ...OR an SD60M...OR....:119: .
Josh(jbaakko), sorry, its not for loan:toug::119: , but you gave me an AWESOME IDEA!:thumb::mrgreen: THANKS!!!:mrgreen:

SOME THOUGHTS & DIRECTION...:winki:
My engine buying days has just about come to a close now:eeki: , Honestly, there are just a couple left on my list, and all but three of them are real expensive:frowns: , and VERY RARE & hard to find:frowns: , most are brass:frowns: . it could take me YEARS to fulfill this list:
1- SD9
2- 2-10-2
3- Big Blow
4- U50B
5- U50C
6- Alco Century C855
7- C630
8- M10000
9- GP15
THATS IT, NO MORE:eeki: .
Want to hear a real killer, the same guy i bought the Veranda Gas Turbine from ALSO had a brass U50C:eeki: , for WAY CHEAPER then the Veranda:eeki: , but i put so much out this weekend, i had to pass it up:frowns: . it really killed me to pass up the U50C because of ALL the U's made, the U50C is -BAR NONE- my favorite of them all:thumb: ...oh well:frowns: , you cant have ice cream with every meal:119: .(no...telling my self that doesn't really help:cry: )
After MUCH THOUGHT, i am VERY HAPPY with the era i am currently modeling, 60's-79:thumb: , thus, i am NOT going to buy anymore "NEWER" engines:cry: , don't get me wrong, i really like the ones i have:winki: , but i am taking more direction in what i am doing now, thinking about my new upcoming layout that will hopefully be started this summer.
though i am NOT going to be 100% prototypical:roller: , if i did that all my steamers i love would be gone, and many of my "older" diesels would have been scrapped by the mid to late 70's:frowns: , so thank goodness Big Ed is one to keep the old alive:winki::119: .
Well, its getting late,and i have to be at work in a couple hourswall1 , so I'll go more into my "other" plans in another post:winki: .
THANKS AGAIN FOLKS!:smilie:
Till next time...STAY ON TRACK!:thumb:
