Bill that mill work is finer than frog hair. :eek:That is probably the only piece of scaled lumber that I do buy is the batten material. I have cut manila paper strips from old file folders with good results. I place the strips on a piece of blue masking tape & spray them with a shot of spray...

Thanks S class, Bill & Mountain Man for the comments. This like a lot of my stuff has been started before I joined the forum. I am working on a company store & will be posting it as I go along with some camp houses also. This did turn out a little larger than I planned but I have always liked...

    Levi Barry Coal Co.

Well here it is by request my Coal Mining project. I started this one last year & quit only to start the Saw Mill project. One of these days I will do something simple so I can finish before starting another project. This one is also scratch built. I like the New River Mine from Walthers but...

Thanks Abutt. That's the reason I have ran code 100 for so many years & won't convert to 83 or smaller. I have a lot of track, turnouts etc. & especially I am very fond of old engines & new. For me personally after the track is weathered, ballasted, & scenery added being a little out of scale...

Shaping up real good Bill. If I had that view of the trestle bridge I would have to model that.

Bill that diamond blade won't cut wood because it is made to cut tiles or stone. It will burn the wood instead of cutting.

Don't you hate those fuzzies Bill. It looks like your getting rid of them pretty good. I get more with pine than I do with poplar. When my trim jobs are painted I use poplar so that's why I have so much of it to use. I know a guy that bought one of those cheapy Skil,Sears or Ryobi saws for less...

    Maple Valley Logging & Millwork

Thanks guys for your comments. Doc those curtains are small pieces of toilet paper (unused Charman) rolled up like an accordian & then opened slightly & glued to the inside of the wall. Bill since I don't have a RR up & running I have been building things as diaromas or modules. I...

Your very inspiring Frank. I love trains but I have a passion for the Steamers. I want to build an Engine House & roundtable so bad but I tell myself NO WAY  until the Mill & Mining projects are done. I want to scratch build it & use an over the counter mechanism for the table itself. I do...

Coming along nicely Bill. I have used spray polyurethane on bare wood before with good results to make it easy to dust.

Yes I agree, about re lettering the Heisler. I really haven't had much time lately to check out the plastic & lettering paint. I normally remove lettering with brake fluid after first testing it on an area not noticible. I bought about 22 Athern Coal Cars yesterday at our local train show with...
