A simple way to re-size pdf files when you don't know the original scale.

I found a very useful tool and thought it needs to be here. Convert from scale to scale with no math. If you have a printout that should be on letter paper, it would be 11” long, an A4 page would be 11.69. So, using this chart, just use the factor shown. No math other than multiplying by the...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

I think the homeowner licked the pens, he can’t stand up without his feet being stuck down. :smoker: I’m considering making the front wall from a piece of thin foam I have. I’m going to test painting a scrap of it to see if I can do it.

    A little Diorama for Christmas

The homeowner came to inspect the construction progress. He wants to move in, I told him ‘tough’, it ain’t done. I have two layers of veneer in the top of the archway. I think one more layer and then I can build the window and fit it in place. I’m considering what to do with the rest of...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Some progress. I glued the hinge on the door backwards, but managed to make it work by changing the design of the back of the door. I had to add a layer to hide the hinge. I will probably just dye the hinge the same color as the wood and then just touch the ‘hinge’ places with black. I really...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

This door is tiny. I have glued the threshold to the brick structure. I think I will build and assemble the wooden structure that holds the actual door before I put it in the brick archway. I have started the door and am experimenting with the tyvek hinge. I have some clear ‘glass’ that I...

"Alexander Arbuthnot" Australian Paddlesteamer - 1/100 scale

Very nice model! I grew up near the Missouri river and have always loved to watch tug boats, any tug boats, do their work. Bravo!

    MEDIC!!! (Modifying plastic Army Men)

This is the MASH unit, with a crawler who donated part of his left arm. I hate to cut up crawlers, they aren’t as common as the dummy with the rifle over his head. But, I needed an open hand, easy arm to test. Now I know how to do this stuff, I can cut up some of the more common, oddities that...

    MEDIC!!! (Modifying plastic Army Men)

I’m easy to entertain and hard to keep on task. So, after building an artillery piece from an Army Man gun and some Legos… I needed someone to operate the thing. They don’t make cheap Army Men to do tasks I need done. So… I learned radical surgery. One guy lost his forehead during a scalpel...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

No burns… I turn it off except when cutting, but bumping into it will kill the wire. I haven’t touched it yet while it is on, but I’ve read that a quick touch doesn’t hurt. So, this is FUN. I’ve been working on the doorway in preparation to making the door. I have the doorway brickwork fitted...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

I couldn’t resist playing with my hot wire cutter some more. I got this one from Amazon: (I’m just learning to use it) I chose it over the Proxon because of price and the fact that the Proxon is made from plastic. This one is 3/4” plywood. I plan to make a couple of ‘sleds’ that fit in the...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Time for a change of pace. I’m afraid to paint the Bronco, so I will practice on the test piece. In the meantime, I need to work on the house. The plan is to build the front door as a pre-hung unit. Foam cutout for the brick and arch surrounding the door and window and real wood veneer for the...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Thanks! I couldn’t resist doing a little more work on it. Some sanding was done and reinforcements were added to the inside of the body. The camera is a good modeling tool. I see more work is needed to smooth the curves on the inside of the flares. Also, the inner fenders from the donor van...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

OK, enough for today. The flares are installed, the frame has been glued to the proper wheelbase and the body mounts raised. I’m letting the glue dry now, before sanding the flares. I saturated them with superglue to harden them.
