My last post sounded biased, sorry, they are all coming out incredibly well. It would be cool to see one with an acetate covering. They are all part of an incredible fleet wing being formed.

I have been considering this also, and with very little modifications and a few more internal formers, it is possible.
So far so good with the skinning process guys, My version will be semi skinned but with the possibilities of looking at the interior details. At the moment, my index fingers on both hands have cut bandages on them It has been over 6 years since I cut myself with my surgical blades. :cry: It will teach me to make sure the knife point is down in my tool cup. It this is the first time I cut myself with my table saw.
I took the blade guard off and moved the lumber through. Lucky for me, it just sliced a piece off my finger nail and by luck, did not cut my finger, but it still hurts. In the meantime, I am still working on a display option as well as the figures. See you soon with more updates.:thumb:

I've never experienced a cut which required a bandage (knocking on wood). I take it that there are no blood stains on your model..! angel
So always be careful when using sharp tools (... and if you really have to hurt yourself make sure to cut your little finger; you can still work with the other ones then :thumb

EVERYONE here is doing an EXCEPTIONAL JOB on their projects.
I like how each builder is taking a different approach and direction with their own builds.
@silveroxide: Both the landing gear and the ammo trays look AMAZING!!!
The realistic detail that you are putting into this model is mind blowing!!!

@RF: The skins look GREAT so far. I like the technique you used to seal the gap on the underside.
@Micahrogers: You can build it with just the outer skins, canopy and landing gear. Just build the internal formers (and the cockpit interior, and any other internal support that may be needed), build the engines, and then add the skins, landing gear, and canopy.
There you will have the Viper MK-II fully detailed and skinned.
If you go this route (and I hope that you do), please post your build here and show us all what you are doing and how.

I fully agree. This would be a great addition to the fleet and could show the fans how to do that variant. When you are using the skeleton and the skin only I suppose any fitting issue can be solved much easier than with the internals attached; just cut the skeleton to shape and put the skin over it. :thumb:

I have just moved, and still living in boxes. My new apartment is the complete portrait of chaos, although I already have energy, water, and all beds in place.

Wow, that's horrible! I know this kind of injury can be hard on your relationship with yourself, so be kind and understanding, (you righty or lefty)? :mrgreen:

Ambidextrous, I cut the same fingers on both hands, but lucky for me, I tend to heal fast, so the bandaids are off, The blood is cleaned off the Viper and I am back at it again. My breakfast nook/counter is finished and looks good.
I do not have too many photos for this posting and that is due to the time consuming construction of a feasible head for my Viper Pilot. It is hard to make facial features, at least or me. It took a while using FIMO clay but I made a good copy and made a mold of it. It will serve as the basis for future heads. Originally I painted the hair black and had a chuckle to myself. For those here in the U.S. the head looked like FLO, a female actress for a Progressive Insurance commercial. The tail section (Rooster Tail) will be a one piece glued together unit. I was going to add the wiring and greebles to it but opted out. The landing gears are off for now. The gears will be attached after I do the skinning for the bottom. Enjoy and see you all soon with more updates.

Great work, silver! BTW, I think I'm gonna "borrow" your idea to make 3D rounds; I'll give it a try using some toothpicks.

That is what my build threads are for, go for it. The linkage for the rounds are colored in when the glue sets. Mine are a bit wavy but it still simulates the round linkage. Also, the tray is different from the plans but still simulates the feel of an ammo tray with 20mm rounds.

Thanks, I am still playing around with Tiricks figures. I am playing around with the scale to get one as close to my figure. I may do a back to back thread on his and mine
Here are some more updates on the Viper build. UHU gave two options on the fan blades, Here is a third option which is easier for making the raised edges and do not have to work with those pesky little tabs.
I will be back with the second posting of the fan blades. The blades will be shaded in better when the glue sets.:thumb:

I just started to make this model my own. (cokpit finalized) I can state, that this is a great model with fantastic details. But it will take a while to have it finished (if ever).
Think it is a good deal to build this model within a group, but who will be the one who has the viper in his fleet?

@Silveroxide: The fans look GREAT! The landing gear looks way too realistic! I like the added tow pintle on the front.

Thanks for the compliment RB. I just happen to do things my way and use the models as a base in which to further work up the details. UHU's design are perfect, but once the Viper is enlarged, it cries out for more detailing.
The viper is coming along nicely, but if you want to make it canon, my enlargement will not work with the slide on and slide off skin. My intentions are to attach the skin permanently at strategic points. Enjoy and see you all soon with more updates. Come on guys, you are slowing down, I will catch up to to you all.
