When the weather forecaster says tomorrow's temperature will be "average" and you're happy if it doesn't get too much over 110, you know you've spent too much time out in the sun...hamrhamr

Probably the first on the list is that there's not a snow shovel in town. Second is that you can get about twice the house for half the price, still, and the average homeowners property taxes run under $2000 a year. They're not aware that your blood starts to boil and your brain can bake around the 115 degree mark, that's our little secret...:twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Mine are only about $550 a year. :???:

My blood usually starts boiling around 95 or so.

$550, that seems to me to be less than $2000...:mrgreen: :mrgreen: Most newer homes in my area are going at around $1800 in taxes. Now I've been watching some real estate shows on cable and I know that is about 20% of what you'd pay up in the north east.

Were you around when it hit 122? I was, and it wasn't any worse than 110, hot is hot...

Yeah, I noticed that as well. :roll: My shoes stuck to the pavement a bit more than usual. What people that come here don't realize at first is the sheer delight of trying to get into your car when its been sitting in the parking lot all day at 110+.:cry:
 
Wow!, barely May and we're already getting into the hotter than he11 stories!:mrgreen: Okay, I'll bite...
You people up north and back east use gloves when it gets cold... we use 'em in the summer or you risk first degree burns on your hands when you touch your melted, scalding, sticky steering wheel. Sometimes, just opening and closing the door is a challenge to keep from getting burned. Don't even wear shorts if you own a car that has leather seats... OUCH! You can tell when it is starting to get hot by where people park... usually it's by the front door but it's amazing how far people will walk in order to park under the shade of a tree. Oh, and finally, don't leave your sunglasses on the dash or you'll burn behind your ears when you put them on after coming back out.... don't leave anything with a screen in the sunlight or it turns black, and don't leave any VHS tapes in the car or they twist and contort into weird shapes. Why do I live here? Oh, yeah, the COOLER months of summer... September through April.
 
Yep, and don't ever leave a cash register receipt in the car, it will turn black before you realize it. An TrainNut's right, you can get serious burns touching the metal on your car, and you'll drive the first five minutes without touching the steering wheel waiting for the A/C to do its thing.

What else? Well, construction crews start working at 3 and 4 in the morning, and you often see them pouring concrete that early. The hotter it is, the more runway an airplane needs to take off. When it got to 122, they stopped all flights since none of the charts went that high. :twisted:

Gloves??? Sheesh, gloves are for sissies..... :mrgreen: :mrgreen: Waddayamean, those gloves I bought were to help me target shoot better, not keep me from burning my hands on the gun barrel....:oops: :oops:
 
The wife and I flew out to Scottsdale a couple weeks ago for a long weekend without the kids - not often we can get away without the little ones. We stayed at a nice resort near Scottsdale Road and McCormick. The weather was great - sunny and about 80 every day. So my wife mentions this would be a great place to live. I reminded her that in a couple months it will be 120 here. No thanks - not for me!

I would like to have your tax bills though. Taxes in the Chicago area are probably about 5 times more than Phoenix. :cry:
