I squeezed down the hood a bit. There are a few overlapping parts now which have to be cleaned up next but this is no biggie.

Just curious, what's underneath? I was considering building a Chevrolet P30/35 chassis. I found good pics for the Ford Chassis this ambulance sits on.
There are very few models of chassis alone. Built to scale, they would be quite a unique offering.

Cool link! This model is a WYSIWYG and will come "as is", so no engine and no medical equipment inside. It would have been very cool to have everything fleshed out but due to time constraints Chris requested it to be as simple as possible with blacked out windows. I'll fulfill that request. Totally understand. I had started a P30/35 chassis, as that is what my motor home sits on. I thought, that chassis is so ubiquitous, all postal vehicles use it, there are millions on the road. I got really far, but blew that hard drive, I lost all the reference photos, everything. I was going to back it up that day. I was so disillusioned, I haven't got the gumption to try it again (I also got a motorcycle that has sucked up a lot of time0. This truck/ambulance you are making will look excellent the way it is.
I was almost finished with a frame for Tonino's Balilla. Full frame, engine and working suspension, I lost that on the same hard drive. Months of searching for frame pictures, all gone. Sh*t happens.

Argh, that sucks! Sometimes Corel goofs up and I lose the entire file. So I have made it a habit to save backups of the development. One of the best things of the F550 is that the parts are modular and so versatile. Once the front is set you can use it to build all kinds of variants, a towing vehicle, one with a back seat bench, a flatbed truck and such. The front is the same on all models. Need an F350? Just change the shape of the hood a bit and you have it. You can even turn it into an SUV and have a police car.

The Ford and Chevy chassis have that in common. There are so many different looking vehicles running on these chassis. I think eventually I will revisit the chassis, that may inspire someone to build their truck or vehicle on it.
The best thing is, after examining so many pictures of the car I can immediately tell you if it's a Ford or not just by looking at the fenders or the side windows.

New York City returned all their new Ambulances to FORD a (this was a long time, maybe 20 years or more) because when they would take a left turn, the serpentine belt would fall off. Ford and New York City's own mechanics could not fix the problem. A court ordered FORD to take them all back. I always wondered what happened to those vehicles. I remember seeing 100 or so of them in a parking lot off of Rte I-95.
They purchased the motorhome shells like my motorhome from Champion and welded a platform on top (Galvanized steel frame). They serviced the city stop lights with them. It was weird seeing my motorhome painted up in New York Police liveries. That was a long time ago, I would imagine they have used them all up.
I have had a few ford vehicles in my time, and have found them to be very reliable. I have never had any problems or issues. The only reason why I no longer have them was either due to divorce, I moved out of country, or needed a larger vehicle.Yep, parked up and broken down........!

30 odd years driving Ford service trucks and vans, E250, E-350, all the way up to F-750 dual axel #74,000 rated sewer pumper. As long as they keep the services up they were great. I've owned Ford cars and trucks, and never had an issue.
