Needing to clear space on the workbench, I thought it was time to get my act together!

I've had this kit knocking about for ages, and with a new mindset of finishing things, it HAD to be finished.

Conceived from the great mind of Ron Cobb, this take on the 'ALIENS' APC caught my eye.

Taken from the free pack of PR models its not too bad, but mistakes were made during construction. If you care about the final finish then, then I'm quite sure you'll end up building two!

Sorry for no build pictures, but this was just an exercise model to see if I could work at a smaller scale.

Excellent work here! I think this concept was better than the one they built for the set, but these days I now understand 'manufacturing compromises' when concept and reality have to meet in the middle somewhere.

You are not alone. There are quite a few fans who would have preferred this look to the revamped towing vehicle that was used in the movie. But as you said, compromises must be made every time. What a great thing it is as a papercrafter to be able to build whatever we want without being limited to budget constraints. :)

That is indeed a small model or you have giant hands......
Yes, I have giant hands ;)

Looked as if the the thing could also turn on the spot

I think you're right, probably the production designers looked at the concept vs other designs, and went with practicality
I think that it was be interesting to see a build thread of this model. If ever you decided to rebuild it, please post a build thread of it.
I shall think that over, definitely needs to be bigger, before I have another go
Looks wicked
A very interesting concept.
Just about everything Ron visualised was 'interesting' to say the least

Thankfully the film was made in the days of practical effects, rather than CGI
