Imcold X-Wing - discussion/building thread (http://xwingpm.wz.cz/)

Greetings Starbuck, I build planes in scale 1/200 with paper of 75-80grs, I learned to handle this very fine paper, at the beginning you will want to make a bun and throw it away, then you take care. It is more delicate, tends to To be dented before a slight pressure and it does not give you time to correct unions, when gluing you must be very careful. The advantages, cutting is very easy and when sticking you do not have to wait long to continue, it adheres quickly.

First parts done and I can agree what Dagger mentioned.
Although the parts are made of thin paper I plan to give some parts a thicker layer. Especially the end parts of the tubes where applicable.

Wood Dowels 50 pack of 150mm x 2.5mm at Walmart, in the craft section... In the cake /decoration section, they have Wilson Candy sticks that are rolled paper200mm x 4mm (and probably other types and sizes), cotton swabs (for ears) on paper rolled, usable length approx 80 mm x 2.4 mm ( you can pull scrape and sand the cotton off!)

The swabs and the candy sticks can also be water formed as it does not take but to moisten them in warm water and carefully and slowly bend them into shape and then let dry!!

Good to have done the test build.
All parts fit perfect.

First done - three to go.

Very well done Starbuck, it looks very good, and difficult.
Thx. Yes it is a detailed model and it seems to be difficult, but if you do it with patience and if you read the instruction carefully, then
everything comes together nicely.
And if you you have a problem - place it here in this forum, and you will receive help.
I remember my build of the millenium falcon. I asked within the building thread whether a radar dish as seen in EP7 is available anywhere in the net.
The answer was no, but BIGPETR CREATED ONE!!

Next parts. I had to adjust the front end of the stick to be able to wrap the paper around the stick completely. Used my knife and a file.

At the moment I am not sure how to build part 15. Cut? Fold? Any ideas?

Looks like cut, fold the grey sides over the white core, the curl into the C shape, the longest grey side is the outside of the curl...

Fix the gun tip of the left gun, it's crooked compared to the other 3. You would not want that detracting from this beauty! :)
