Hi all. My name is Jack, though I come in under (Allstate81140), and just have a few newbie comments.
First of all, I have no idea where the h--l I am on here as far as getting around. Ha ha. However, I will learn. Right now I am busy (retired should explain it) and won't be on here much in the beginning, but hope to get into this before too long.
I love trains both real and model, and always have. Age doesn't change that. I am a kid when it comes to those things roaring around the table. H--l, I still wave at engineers. Point on this paragraph being: modeling has changed so much since I used to hook up, wire up, and make scenery for my model trains that I haven't a clue what is out there right now. I read some of your posts on here, and feel like it is in a foreign language. (That really wasn't a play on words either-ha ha).
Speaking of that, and I just love Canadians and would love to visit Canada before the Lord calls me in to help him with those big trains in the sky. Can I tactfully ask how it is that there are so many Canadian members on this group? I am just curious, as I was referred here by what is called 'Handymanwire'. They tried a train group with their electrical and handyman groups, but it didn't take off. However, it did tell me about this one. That group is mostly comprised of Canadian members also. Does anyone on here realize how neat that is, that we can write to someone in Canada from the U.S., or write England from the U.S., or other countries, and vice versa?
I have a website for antiques, but never had the fortune to have any Canadians on it. That part is strange. I have one from Italy, and one from Australia.
As far as what I read about two prominent members leaving, that will happen. I moderate my group, and they will stay for sometimes two or three years and then move on. Many different reasons. New ones will come. As long as your site keeps out the language and such, as I see it does, and mine does, they will go on and prosper. New members maybe instead of some of the older ones you were used to, but life does change as our needs do.
Boy, that is the only bad part. When I start posting on here, there will be books like the one I just wrote. I can never say anything in a few words. Ha ha.
