Occasionally I'll come across smething like a Ken Kidder or Ed Suydam model of a work motor or line car. I'm going to scratch bash a line car from a Cannonball Car Shops Pullman troop car as part of my MW group. That's the first time I've seen a line truck......great photos! Post some more!
Sprinkler cars were used to wash streets down as a public service or through an agreement with a city. There were also snow sweepers that used big rotating brushes to remove snow from the tracks. Some work cars had small cranes mounted on them, too. Neat stuff! :thumb:
That line truck looks like the old CCT line truck--they needed one to operate in Sacramento, where rapid trolley headways meant that the regular line car spent more time taking siding than working on the line.
Thanks for the pictures. Trolleys are fascinating things. I can remember a car, similar to the one in the first picture but larger, running in Pittsburgh many years ago.
