I sailed blue water sailboats for quite a few years. The last was a 10 meter Pearson, 5'9" Fin Keel, 12' 6" Beam, 150 Genoa, automatic roller furling and a fully battened mainsail on a foot mast that went down to the keel, as did the chain plates.
I could never understand how the name Chinese Junks name came to be. These ships are so controllable, and seaworthy, the name just does not suit them, and with solid sails to boot!!
