Starting On30 Class-A climax

Decided since I couldn't afford to buy one of Bachmann's On30 Climax locos, I'd take some spare parts lying around, and some PVC from the local Chase-Pitkin, and a On30 Wooden Shay cab kit to start scratchbuilding an On30 Class-A climax.

Ok...I'm resurrecting an old thread here, but I finally got to do a little more work on it.

the MDC Climax boiler is a stand-in...I'm going to use some brass pipe to make a T-boiler (it should add some weight).

I knew On30 was big but, looking at your carpentry on that loco, I didn't know it was big enough to use power tools Mighty fine jointery on the wood work:thumb:

The wood is actually a Banta Modelworks replacement On30 Shay cab. I can't bring myself to actually remove the cab from my Bachmann Shay (yet?) so I decided to use it for a new engine.

The big pic is due to my Kodak DX3900 digital camera. Every so often I get a good, close pic to come out right.

I have another Banta kit for a Camp Shower Car that is destined for my only flat car, once I take the time to assemble it.

Looks great, I have bought the new Climax, and its a beautiful loco, was hoping to try my hand at weathering it, but very scared i mess it up.
