I just started working on the sound stage of the original Star Trek show. The scale of this model is 3/32" = 1'-0". I have spent countless hours and researching the net for all types of images and will try to make it as detail as posible to the original. As they say I am doing this on the cheap. Using any scrap of card stock I can get my hands on lol. Please enjoy and comment. Any advice is allways welcome.

Did you hear the tale about when the original bridge set was dismantled, they found an old crate that was being used to support Captain Kirk's chair (& presumably where Sulu and Checkov sat). Inside the crate was the dinosaur from the original King Kong.

Ok, modeling that might be a bit obsessive....

Oh this is so Cool! There's a great pic of Mr. Jefferies' card model of the stage that he made for Director's references in the book "Star Trek sketchbook" that had inspired me... wow nice to see you tackling it!

I suspect this project has gone the way of many we all have started and still have on the shelf meaning to get back to. The idea is great, though. I've often thought it would cool to do a movie/TV soundstage set or two. ST TOS is a great subject. I think if I were going to do so I would start with the excellent Ron Caudillo TOS bridge, modify it, and work from other sources for the rest. I know there's at least one Sketchup model portraying the TNG corridors, but I've not run across one of the TOS sets yet.

BTW, here's a great site featuring set layout plans of of most of the Star Trek series:

Quite interesting. I have been studying the actual pre-visualization of the 1966 sets by Matt Jeffries seen here:

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Studio_model

It is said that these "studio" models were used on several ocassions by directors to preview camera angles before shooting the show.

Computer pre-visualizations can also be seen on Doug Drexler's site "The Drex Files".....You might want to leave him an e-mail and phots of your work!

So this is like, the entire set they used in the show?

    Without the bridge of course.
