Squidbait : I use the same thing for lighting.
I use 2 of them .They work great, can be placed just about anywhere you need them. I changed the bulbs from incandescent to those new fancy florescent bulbs. For me it works a lot better, the color is better and its better lighting, brighter I guess you could say. If you can't use three lights try a reflector to brighten up the darker areas. White card board or some aluminum foil crumpled up and glued to a piece of card board works well. This reflector works great for taking pics too.
I try to place the camera on the layout but use a tripod sometimes. WalMart has a neat carrying case for around 10 bucks, its for digital cameras and comes with one of those little wire type tripods, it works real well too. As for the editing, I use Windows Movie Maker. You can add other sounds, splice your movies , just all kinds of neat things you can do. If you can Edit in camera then go for it. My lil elcheapo camera doesn't have that. Note to Self, Self ,gotta get a better camera.
