SD40-2 vs SD60

From what I have read and know the answer to both questions is no. That's because locos sometimes have "trade-in" trucks, go through production phases, and can be modified by order for the purchasers specifications. I further wager one could find GP38-2 with even old Alco trucks from trade in RS2s. I'm sure I seen pictures of such. The only way to get a loco "right" is find a picturew of THAT unit to go by. Thanks for the reply Fred,
not too worried about the swapped trucks as I've seen Alco trucks on EMD units etc. What I am after is in modeling
a CN SD40-2W in S scale, can the shell fit on a SD60 frame and look correct. If the truck wheelbase is the same on both units
I can use the SD60 frame and trucks from American Models
SD60. Same goes for the GP35/GP38-2W**

** looking through some of my old MR magazines I
found out the Truck wheelbase is the same for the
GP38 and GP35 of 32 feet

Any books out there that give diesel specs ?

thanks

Joe
