Scrap-Box Roof Details

I had an odd-sized space I needed to fill along the backdrop of my layout, so I went through the scrap box, & put together some walls left over from a couple of DPM kits. I put some strip styrene on top of the walls to look like cap stones. When I got it together, though, I had a couple of doors on the second story!

I didn't really like the way that looked, so I went back to the scrap box...
I covered the double door with a big ventalator fan that I made from a piece of .020" styrene, & a wheel from an HO model T Ford kit. The smalled door I hid with a smokestack made with a piece of tubing.

I still had a flat, boring roof line that needed some spicing up...

I found some wooden fencing from another kit, & used it to fasion a shed type structure to add some interest to the roof...

Lastly, I added another smokestack made from sprue, & some ballast

Looks great Charlie, I haven't got a scrapbox, only an old suitcase full to the top with odds and sods, I very often tip it all out on newspaper just to find something special that I require. Found a couple of old N-scale loco's in it the other day, Minitrix deisels in DB colour sceme. Not much use to me now that I am into H0 so I guess I will swap them in next time I get to a model shop.
