Does anyone have a chart for scale speeds? I'm looking for something that goes up in 5 MPH incriments. It would be good if it were only about 2 or 3 feet long also, so you could measure your speed often and quickly. Thanks in advance!
Mike, divide the feet traveled by the seconds it took and multiply by 109. I.E. four foot of module in 5 seconds = .8 times 109 = 87.2 scale miles per hour.
Mike going to see if I can attach a chart I made up for our clubs next show. Give the children something to do other than ask "is that as fast as that train will go?"
That's exactly what I needed Sandro, thanks! I went down and calculated that I've got all my engines set so maximum on the Digitrax throttle is 40 MPH. I usually say that 85 is the fastest you can go, which is about 35MPH. It's right where I wanted it, since the maximum speed on the real Laggan Sub is 40MPH. Thanks again Sandro.
Guys, I saw a scale model train speedometer that works for any scale at the last GSMTS. Check out the following website. www.trainspeed.com. This item appears to be real easy to install and was a real attention getter. I should know, I purchased a unit.
I got the Trainspeed unit as well to match the speeds of different engines and manufacturers. My next step is to hook up my computer interface to a small circle to get the DCC speed table going. It is maybe more expensive than a stop watch but for DCC it really cuts down the time to perfectly match the speed table.
G`day HD90, thanks for your question, I did not know such a thing existed I do now, surprizing what you can pick up when you least expect it. thanks again... have a good one ...Steve
