    I have my men set working on installing centers so the yard towers can know what is in the yards, so my question is this;

    Do they really lay cable or something for the yard towers to monitor what is in the yard or were the train is on the mail line?

    Bob -
    Probably depends on what period you're talking about - I imagine the monitoring was mostly done by a good set of eyeballs until fairly recently. And maybe even later, just with closed circuit TV!

    Did you see the latest (January2004 - sheez) issue of Model Railroader? The article on page 122 might interest you.
