I will try this model very soon. As mentioned I have also done the "old"version - like you.
Although it is not the best known ship in the Star Wars universe I like the style.

I fell in love with it from playing the X-Wing PC games - fastest & most manoverable of the rebel fighters (and one took down the Executor at Endor !)
