need to test a working car

I'm a newcomer who needs some fast help. I have a Lionel 3520 (searchlight car) listed on eBay, and someone asked me if the searchlight rotates. I don't know, but I'd like to find a quick way to find out. I don't have a layout set up, but I found a 1041 transformer. can I use it to test the car? How do I hook it up to the car? A fast answer would be appreciated, please.

Search lite car

I beleive you need a control track, its black with a red circle in the middle,, connect transformer, place sl car on control
track and switch on the controller which will lite the car, if its the car I'm
thinking of its orange in the middle, it should rotate. Hope this helps!
