St. Clair County, Ala., Sheriff Terry Surles said Wednesday the body discovered Jan. 3 near Riverside, Ala., is that of 61-year-old Barry Alan Helling of Snellville.
Helling, who was found by two fishermen in woods off U.S. 78 east of Birmingham and about 140 miles from his home, died from an apparent gunshot wound to the back of the head.
